Superintendent - Building Construction

Under limited supervision, the Superintendent – Building Construction is responsible for overseeing the success of new facility construction and building renovation projects, including developing construction guidelines, developing and managing construction budgets, and maintaining close working relationships with architects, engineers, and firm owners to ensure construction projects are completed on time and on budget.

Examples of Duties

Monitors/controls construction through administrative direction of on-site superintendent to ensure quality project is built on schedule within budget.

Oversees & manages the master progress schedule to meet all time objectives.

Assists in establishing the initial budgets, review of estimates, and solicitation of bids to meet budget requirements and maintain cost effectiveness.

Manages project staff, architects, engineers, general contractors and at times JOC subcontractors to meet budget and schedule.

Prepare budget and financial reporting to manage financial aspects of contracts to protect the city's interest.

Resolve issues and problems that involve budget, construction and schedule changes as they develop and as contract specifies.

Review plans for code compliance and assist in the development of project plans to ensure it is consistent with expectations.

Assure applications for payment and collection are properly disbursed.

Supervise completion of punch list and follow up all warranty work.

Set up and monitor pre-construction activities such as geotechnical and asbestos surveys.

Perform additional duties as requested by management.

Experience and Training

High School Diploma or equivalent

Four (4) years ground up commercial construction experience. Must have demonstrated ability to manage both large and small projects as well as multiple projects at once.

Certificates and Licenses Required

Valid Texas driver's license or ability to get one within 30 days of hire
