POSITION SUMMARY:

The Software Engineer is responsible and accountable for providing Quality / No Harm, Customer Experience, and Stewardship. Works on the development of applications to improve end-user productivity and streamlines organizational processing. Supports a multi-tier architecture, including servers, databases, client and network configurations for critical application systems utilized within Health First. The Sr. Software Engineer position is a resource in areas of expertise for all of IT leadership and staff. They will be called upon to assist in mentoring staff in application development, maintenance, and troubleshooting.

PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Develops and supports complex application code, scripts and queries using the most efficient, scalable and supportable programming language or methodology as appropriate to the project.

Develops documentation for all written code. Assists with creation of department standards and procedures related to application development.

Maintains a high level of security as it pertains to both projects and operations abiding by established Health First Information Security policies and applicable HR policies and App Dev standard operating procedures. Reviews other associates work to validate solid security practices.

Participates in management approved educational programs and follows the industry to learn of current trends, best practices, and new developments in software development, information technology, and healthcare IT.

Adheres to Information Technology Change Management Policies and Procedures such as preparing appropriate change requests or submitting change requests timely.

Assist with the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of operating systems and software relative to the installed application.

Mentor other associates by assisting with more complex issues or projects and by sharing knowledge. Provides knowledge transfer to associate team members by conducting technical in-services to the team.

Constantly evaluates systems/workflows and makes recommendations for system and process improvements.

Participates in testing schedule/testing scenarios, monitors and analyzes performance during testing, and communicates results to the appropriate project team members following through with issues to resolution.

Able to demonstrate cost savings strategies within your area of responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

BS in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Mathematics or a field

related to the primary area of responsibility, and at least 8 years of relevant Information

Technology / Software Development experience.

6 years active programming experience. Thorough knowledge of one or more current

industry-standard programming languages such as C#, Java, C /C, JavaScript

Thorough knowledge of SQL server, Oracle, or other database management system

standards for normalized architecture and best security practices.

Experience in SSIS, SSRS, T-SQL, PL/SQL and other development platforms as required

for job responsibilities.

Agile development experience.

DevOps experience.

Required experience with modern source control such as git.

Strong communication and organizational skills.

Experience designing creative technical solutions to resolve complex problems.

Ability to work in a team environment and interact favorably with people is a must.

Knowledge of the following concepts: Object-Oriented Programming, Agile Scrum, Dev

Ops, Web Applications, API Technologies, Cloud Computing, Test-Driven Development,

Enterprise Service Bus, Cross-Platform Mobile Development
