* Receives and screens visitors and incoming telephone calls.

* Maintains supervisor's calendar, scheduling appointments and meetings.

* Makes necessary arrangements for meetings including space, time, attendees, etc.

* Develops plans and procedures leading to the effective administration of the office personnel and operations.

* Collects, reviews, quantifies, and finalizes data for management studies and reports.

* Types a variety of material (e.g., correspondence, technical reports, memoranda, studies, etc.) involving technical terminology common to the organization.

* Coordinates and oversees all requests for personnel action for the office (i.e., recruitment, promotion, training, awards, etc).

This position is a TERM not to exceed 13 months, with provisions to extend up to six years with provisions to be made permanent without further competition.

To be eligible for conversion to a permanent career-conditional or career appointment, you must have:

* Completed at least 2 years of current continuous service under a term appointment in the competitive service.

Specialized Experience: To qualify based on your work experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled such as: independently establishes the office administrative procedures to assure compliance with established regulations and guidance; provide clerical administrative support such as receiving visitors and telephone calls, maintaining supervisor's / management chief's calendar, making appointments, making travel arrangement to comply with procedural guidance; organizing files, records and other related material required for efficient office operations. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service GS-06.

Selective Placement Factor: This position requires you to be a qualified typist, typing at least 40 words per minute (WPM) with three (3) or fewer errors based on a five [5] minute sample.
