POSITION: Managing Mechanical Engineer

LOCATION: Rochester, NY

OVERVIEW:

Multi-disciplined architecture/engineering firm is seeking a team-oriented professional with a proven track record of leading and managing Mechanical Engineer professionals. The candidate’s abilities and experience will assist in developing and motivating various professionals, new recruits, and support staff. It is important that this candidate bridge the gap between various phases such as engineering, design, and proposals of mechanical, plumbing, and fire protection throughout all offices.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manages an MEP design group of 12 - 15 design professionals
  • Delegates or assigns projects/tasks to individuals and then oversees/reviews their work to ensure design is progressing for best MEP design practices
  • Performs QA/QC to ensure completeness and quality of design prior to creating a full set of construction documents
  • Develops MEP standards for incorporation into projects
  • Assures project delivery schedules and on time delivery of services
  • Designs project or part of the project as needed to meet schedule
  • Prepares responses to RFP's and/or assists in preparing responses to RFP's
  • Prepares cost estimates and monitors the budget as the design progresses
  • Markets group services to architectural firms and state agencies such as OGS, SUCF, and DASNY
  • Visits project sites to assure project is being completed as designed and responds to contractor’s RFI's
  • Mentors junior engineers and interns
  • Assists in recruitment of professional staff
  • Works diligently with management for Division growth
  • Establishes and maintains a positive relationship with co-workers and other team members

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's/Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited US university
  • New York PE license though multi-state licenses are preferable
  • 15+ years of hands-on experience in designing and managing QA/QC MEP projects for K-12 schools/colleges, health care facilities, and institutional buildings
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in managing small MEP design groups including QA/QC, budgets, etc.
  • Revitt and AutoCAD proficient
  • Experience with New York state agencies such as SUCF, DASNY,and OGS and architectural firms
  • Knowledgeable with ASHREE, plumbing, fire protection, and building and other relevant codes
  • Able to travel to Company satellite offices, project sites, and clients
