Position Objective:

The Physician Assistant functions in an expanded clinical role, through the application of advanced knowledge and skills to provide primary healthcare to patients in the walk-in center. The Physician Assistant functions in a collegial relationship with other providers in the delivery of medical care, working under the general direction of a supervising physician. In accordance with the New Hampshire Code of Administrative Rules & Regulations He-P 800 for a Non-Emergency Walk-In Care Center, CMS and applicable laws and regulations, the Physician Assistant will administer care in the walk-in center in a professional, efficient and ethical manner.

Patient Population Served:

The Physician Assistant is expected to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to evaluate, diagnose and treat patients of any age in the walk-in setting for common illnesses and injuries. Including procedures outlined in Core Privileges of the Medical Staff By Laws.

Essential Position Functions:

Under the general direction of the Vice President of Physician Practice Services, in accordance with the applicable laws and regulations of the State of New Hampshire and within the established policy and procedures, the incumbent performs the following functions:

Clinical Quality

Use clinical knowledge, and evidence based guidelines to evaluate, diagnose and provide treatment plans for a variety of clinical ailments within scope of practice, including minor surgical procedures, prescribing, and referring for follow-up treatment as appropriate.

The physician assistant will consult with emergency physician, medical/surgical physician for patient requiring further care.

Consistently use reliable diagnostic and therapeutic judgment.

Interprets radiology studies, consistent with training and experience.

Provide medical supervision to assigned staff or other healthcare professionals.

Utilize electronic medical record documentation.

Understand their responsibility to patient safety and reporting of any/all unusual clinical occurrences to the Administrator/Manager of record.

Participates in quality assurance plan as directed by the Medical Director.

Fulfill medical staff responsibilities as required by the Medical Staff Bylaws for Frisbie Memorial Hospital.

Non-Essential Position Functions:

Performs other duties as assigned or as judgment or necessity dictate.

Position Qualifications:

Masters of Science Degree or equivalent from an approved Physician Assistant Program.

Member of the FMH medical staff in good standing.

Current licensure and certification required by the State of New Hampshire to practice as a Physician Assistant.

Minimum Experience Requirements

3-5 years of previous Physician Assistant experience.

Educated, certified and licensed to perform core responsibilities of an independent nurse practitioner

Preferred Experience

3-5 year experience in an ambulatory care, occupational health, family practice or emergency department setting.

Experience working in private practice, or independently within a walk-in care clinic setting
