Testing Center Assistant (Part-Time)

Virginia Western Community College is accepting applications for a part-time, Testing Center Assistant (Administrative and Office Specialist II) position to work in the Testing Center. The Testing Center Assistant administers and proctors various types of tests. The position requires interaction with students, faculty, and staff to determine their need for assistance. Good customer service skills are essential in answering the phone and responding to questions. The ability to handle multiple priorities, solve problems, maintain accurate records, and perform other office tasks is necessary on a daily basis.

Minimum Qualifications

Education and training, or a combination of training and work experience, equivalent to an Associate√Ęs Degree in Administrative Support Technology, Business Administration, or a related field required. Excellent interpersonal communication and human relations skills to assist students, faculty, staff and the general public. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. Considerable knowledge of computer software in spreadsheets, word processing, database management and other software applications including Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to learn new software. Strong organizational and decision-making skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks, assess needs, solve problems, and the ability to work without direct supervision in a fast-paced environment. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and Saturdays.

Preferred Qualifications

Work experience in a fast-paced, customer service oriented office environment. Previous work experience in a college environment and/or Testing Center experience is preferred. Demonstrated knowledge of community college mission and programs.

Special Requirements

This is a part-time position, limited to initially working no more than 10-15 hours per week and may in the future lead to up to 29 hours per week. Selected applicant will be subject to criminal history, driving, and credit background checks as a condition of employment. Documents verifying your identity and authorization to work in the United States must be presented upon employment. No traditional benefits are provided; however, the individual is eligible to participate in the College's Educational and Continuous Learning Policy, which provides for educational assistance for up to six credit hours per semester.
