The Discover Card division is the core of the company and the Card Marketing Department is responsible for the growth and management of many of the company's key lines of business. Marketing Analytics is internal team of ~80 experienced analysts, statisticians, modelers, data scientists, and engineers who contribute advanced quantitative intelligence of how our businesses and marketing investments are performing. The CM Engagement Analytics leverages deep understanding of CM behavior, new data capabilities and algorithms to improve product and offer relevance and timeliness of customer communication.

The role is to manage a team of 3-5 talented quantitative analysts to provide thought leadership as well as statistical and analytical expertise to Portfolio Marketing Managers of various customer journeys that deliver great values to our card holders and our company. This individual is a key stakeholder in determining relevant initiatives and priorities, and defining success metrics for customer journeys. This individual will lead analytic initiatives while continuously developing and enhancing analytic core capabilities that enable better decision making and nimble action. The successful candidate in this position will partner with business partners across Marketing, Finance, Risk, CSE, CMA, and Business Technology to develop and analyze strategies, and drive priorities forward to achieve profitable growth goals.

Responsibilities:

* Provide thought leadership and strategic thinking to management and marketing business partners on business opportunity, influence decision making

* Partner with Marketing to lead analytics initiatives, define success metrics, set priorities and allocate analytic resource

* Develop, implement, evaluate and refine customer offer and communication strategies to be more timely and relevant

* Manage workload of analyst and communicate project progress to management & marketing managers

* Operate as a subject matter expert on statistical analysis, test-n-learn, analysis methodology, model application, value evaluation framework development, and defining success metrics

* Lead the team to advance analytic core capabilities including customer segmentation, machine learning relevancy algorithms, new data and tool exploration and adoption, statistical test design, and analytics methodology

* Promote a risk-aware culture, ensure efficient and effective risk and compliance management practices by adhering to required standards and processes

* Recruit, train, coach and develop talents to their full potential with exceptional quantitative/analytical competencies, as well as project management skill and leadership skills

Skills

* A Master's degree in Economics, Statistics, Business or other quantitative fields a must

* 8+ years' experience in consumer marketing, credit card or financial services with relevant experience a must

* Experience with SAS/SQL and Teradata a must, experience with digital data and tool a plus

* Experience with card performance, customer behavior, credit bureau data and financial metrics a must

* Experience in supervising people, developing analytic plan, working with cross-functional teams to define business objective, success metrics, project scope and priority a must

* Make good decision based upon a mixture of analysis, wisdom, experience and judgement a plus

* Skillful in recognizing and dissecting business problems, identifying root causes, and developing both short-term tactical response and long-term solution a plus

* Ability to translate vision into clear priorities and actions a plus

* Ability to manage ambiguity and conflict, negotiate in tough situations and win concessions a plus

* Ability to influence business partners and navigate through matrix, integrated organizational structure and reach out to various constituent groups a plus

* Strong understanding of business needs and an innovative and flexible approach to ever-evolving needs a plus
