Financial Aid Special Program Coordinator

Under general supervision this position is responsible for the Cal Grant, Pell Grant, SEOG, Federal Work-Study, and Institutional Aid Programs. The incumbent will be responsible for the dissemination and processing of over $30 million in state, federal and institutional funds. The incumbent will be responsible for the reconciliation of fund disbursements, communication with state and institutional funds. The incumbent will be responsible for the reconciliation of fund disbursements, communication with state and federal government agencies and records maintenance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Other duties may be assigned.

1.Manages process for the Pell Grant, Cal Grant, Federal Work-Study, SEOG, and Institutional Aid programs.

2.Determines amount of Federal Work-Study, considering such factors as funds available, extent of demand, and needs of students.

3.Maintains and reconciles Cal Grant Program with California Student Aid Commission.

4.Maintains and reconciles Pell Grant Program with COD.

5.Resolves POP's (Pell Overpayment) with COD or other institutions of higher education.

6.Maintains institutional aid amounts by reconciling departmental spreadsheets to the financial aid module.

7.Works with financial aid staff to insure accuracy and compliance with state, federal, and institutional programs, as appropriate.

8.Participates in researching changes in federal, state, and institutional aid and training financial aid staff, as appropriate.

9.Reviews processes yearly. Investigates available options and will implement any necessary changes to make process run more efficiently.

10.Participates in development and implementation of departmental procedures, as appropriate.

11.Participates in professional development conferences such as FSA, CASFAA, and /or JAM.

Ability to read and write at a level appropriate to the duties of the position.

Strong oral and written communications skills; ability to communicate effectively and professionally with a variety of different groups including students, parents, government agencies, vendors, and offices within the University.

Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports.

Strong organizational skills and detail oriented.

Ability to maintain confidentiality.

Knowledge and acceptance of principles and philosophies of California Baptist University, its programs, and requirements.

Knowledge of general accounting principles.

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
