Thomson Reuters is looking for a few highly skilled cyber security specialists to help staff a new location in the central business district of downtown Richmond. This new facility will be home to a number of critical cyber security disciplines, designed to improve the overall security posture of Thomson Reuters – including its assets, data and operations. The role sits within Platform Security Strategy & Operations team of our Information Security Risk Management (ISRM) group. The PSSO team is responsible for the design, engineering and 3rd level support of Thomson Reuters' platform security infrastructure and tools. You will have the opportunity to learn - and provide skilled technical support - for our current platform security toolset as well as engagement in the design, testing and delivery of our future security services within the technical operations environment.

You will bring solid experience in software engineering using emerging and traditional technologies and methods such as: Cloud Infrastructure, DevOps, TDD, and CI/CD pipelines to name a few.

Primary Responsibilities:

* Applying principles of SDLC and methodologies like Lean/Agile/XP, CI, Software Security, Scalability, Documentation practices, refactoring, and testing techniques

* Developing on AWS or other IaaS cloud providers with knowledge of AWS security controls

* Experience with multiple programming languages such as Go, Python, Java, etc...

* Write code that meets standards and delivers desired functionality using the technology selected for the project

* Experience with Git and Agile software development

* Work with product owners to understand product vision and requirements

* Ability to work independently where needed, and ability to take direction where needed

* Strong problem solving skills

* Good personal communication skills are vital

* Past experience with working with information security teams and technologies

Other Responsibilities will include:

* Collaborate with the other IT disciplines inside the larger organization, including network engineering, storage engineering, systems management engineering, and platform engineering to provide consultancy for security-related issues.

* Design and engineer future security products/solutions as defined by ISRM requirements. - Lead strategic design and implementation of solutions - Life-cycle management of security tools.

Required Skills and Experience:

* 3+ years' using cloud based hosting solutions (AWS-EC2/S3, Azure, Google Cloud)

* 3 + years with automation tools for server provisioning and Open Source tools (Ansible, Cobbler, Ironic, Chef and Chef Metal)

* 3+ years' developing automation workflows and routines, using Open Source Tools (Chef, Puppet, Hudson), or Vendor Based Tools (HPSA/OO, vCAC, uDeploy)

* 3+ years' DevOps experience and the development of tools for automation and end-user process improvement

* 3+ years' experience with Linux, server automation and scripting

* Good understanding of basic TCP/IP principles and current LAN technology including use of system based Network Capture utilities.

* Excellent customer service and communication (oral / written) skills required.

* Strong critical thinking and analytical skills.

* Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science preferred
