Senior Scientist, Modeling and Simulation

Job Description

We are currently seeking a highly qualified Scientist to join our Modeling and Simulation department in Richmond, VA. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and using computational methods and models to recommend solutions to technical challenges for products and processes and for supporting information-based decision making.

Specific accountabilities include:

* Performing fundamental and applied research related to particle, liquid and vapor transport including interfacial transport between phases.

* Using CFD software programs including FLUENT, CFX, Openfoam or related modeling software to model physicochemical processes.

* Identifying and modeling physicochemical processes from first principles using common programming languages/software such as C++, R, Matlab and/or Mathcad.

* Developing and using computational models for transport problems involving biophysical, biochemical, and chemical processes.

* Verifying and validating computational algorithms with experimental data

* Independently leading and/or completing projects and research studies requiring the application of business-specific technical practices, procedures and theories.

* Participating in breaking down multidisciplinary projects into manageable tasks and using your specialty to perform related tasks.

* Making formal presentations to peers and management and documenting methods and results of modeling and simulation projects.

* Publishing original works in peer-reviewed journals and presenting at scientific conferences.
