Senior Counselor

The Senior Financial Aid Counselor will assist students and parents with financial aid application requirements. Duties include explaining financial aid eligibility and responding to questions to ensure understanding of the financial aid process. They are also responsible for assisting with packaging financial aid awards and repackaging/counseling students when their enrollment status changes. They will serve as team lead for escalated issues and student concerns and provide technical expertise in specific areas to other staff as required. Perform other duties as assigned by the Associate Director or Director.

Minimum Qualifications

BachelorĂ¢s degree or equivalent experience or training. Knowledge of federal and state financial aid regulations. Must be able to perform problem analysis, awarding of funds, adjusting aid, and monitoring fund availability. Ability to interpret federal, state, and institutional rules and regulations, policies and procedures and to exercise good professional judgment as needed to ensure that appropriate aid resources are directed to all applicants. Ability to interpret University policies regarding application of aid, payment of tuition, housing, and other charges. Must possess good communication skills, be attentive to details, have ability to make presentations in front of large audiences, and demonstrate competent computer skills. Ability to demonstrate customer service excellence and able to work in a diverse environment. Experience with computers in a detail-oriented environment; good mathematical and analytical skills; ability to provide excellent oral and written communication with diverse individuals. Experience working independently and demonstrated initiative. Must be self-motivated and have excellent grammar and writing skills. Ability to work in a diverse environment is required.
