The UVa Institutional Review Board for Health Sciences Research (IRB-HSR) seeks a professional to fill the role of an IRB Advanced Compliance Coordinator.

The institutional review board (IRB) is a critical part of a human research protection program. As UVA expands its research initiatives, it is vital that the IRB Compliance Coordinators are able to provide education, regulatory review and consultations with investigators.

Reporting to the Director of the IRB-HSR, the successful candidate will review IRB submissions to ensure that the integrity of the research protocol review conforms to all federal, state, local and institutional policies and procedures. Provide leadership in the review of research proposals, serve as point of guidance and consultation to investigators and coordinators on the implementation and interpretation of human research policy.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment to the highest standards of personal and professional integrity; have exceptionally strong communication (both verbal and written) and interpersonal skills; have experience with IRB operations, including CIP certification.

Preferred candidates will have 4-7 years of research experience, knowledge of Federal human subject protection laws, HIPAA regulations, local IRB procedures, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities. CIP certification preferred. If employee does not currently have CIP certification they will be expected to obtain certification when they are qualified to sit for the exam.
