VCU Health System's Community Memorial Hospital Billing Office is seeking a full time Billing Office Follow up Representative Sr. Under general direction, this person acts as the lead representative, performing and monitoring the daily functions and activities of the billing, follow up and collection. Trains and cross-trains staff members in all aspects of the billing and follow-up functions of the Business Office. Collects data, reviews and works specialized and difficult reports, monitors performance and stores information. Provides support to the Business Office Management Team.

Responsibilities

Performs the most complex duties related to patient billing, credit collections, and program eligibility and lead subordinate staff members.

Resolves complex/difficult problems, makes recommendations and continually streamlines the functions of the section.

Qualifications

Required

High school diploma or equivalent

Minimum of five (5) years of healthcare billing, follow-up and/or insurance collections work experience.

Previous leadership experience in assigning, reviewing, and directing work.

Previous experience using a personal computer and various software applications with extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office Word and Excel.

Thorough knowledge of at least one area of patient accounts, such as billing, collection, or special program eligibility.

Knowledge of Procedural Terminology, and other references and resources related to patient accounts.

Preferred

Post high school coursework in Accounting, Bookkeeping, Business, etc.

Certified Patient Accounting Technician (CPAT) or

Certified Patient Account Manager (CPAM) by the American Association of Healthcare Administrative Management (AAHAM)

Previous experience with computerized billing system
