Sr Finishing Operator

The Finishing Operator title is an umbrella title that covers many specific job titles in the Finishing area. Ideally, under general supervision, each Finishing Operator should be trained and able to perform all of the subtitles under this umbrella title, which includes: Belting, Chasing, Clear Coating, Drilling & Tapping, Sandblast Operator, Polisher Operator, Oxidation, Packing & Shipping, and Painting. Please see specific functional job description for each of these positions for more specific information. As with all levels of production, employee works to assure accuracy and quality control. These duties promote the flow of materials necessary to production.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Belting, under general supervision, is responsible for start up, belting AIB, VA memorials, and regular memorials, changing belts as necessary and end of shift procedure. Also responsible for maintaining work area and all equipment required to do said job.
  • Chasing, under general supervision, is responsible for examining castings and determining what needs chased, pounding down welds, filling small holes with shot, chasing the surface, letters, ribbons, emblems, vase holes edges, and ornamentation, using the appropriate tools. Also responsible for maintaining work area and all equipment required to do said job.
  • Clear Coating, under general supervision, is responsible for start up, performing clear coating operations, operating the clear booth controls, purging the paint gun, and end of shift procedures. Also responsible for maintaining work area and all equipment required to do said job.
  • Drilling and Tapping, under general supervision, is responsible for drilling and tapping of markers. Also responsible for maintaining work area and all equipment required to do said job.
  • General Cleaning, under general supervision, is responsible for operating the sand blaster and the hand blaster. Also responsible for maintaining work area and all equipment required to do said job.
  • Hand Polishing, under general supervision, is responsible for start up, performing hand polishing, using air tools, and end of shift procedures. Also responsible for maintaining work area and all equipment required to do said job.
  • Oxidation, under general supervision, is responsible for start up, preparing castings for oxidation, performing oxidation, performing basic oxidation techniques, and end of shift procedures. Also responsible for maintaining work area and all equipment required to do said job.
  • Packing & Shipping, under general supervision, is responsible for performing the final quality inspection of castings, then packing and shipping them. Also responsible for maintaining work area and all equipment required to do said job.
  • Painting, under general supervision, is responsible for operating the sand blaster and the hand blaster. Also responsible performing painting operations, mixing paint as needed, purging the paint gun and for maintaining work area and all equipment required to do job.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or three to twelve months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand and use hands to handle or feel. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and distance vision.
