Director, Logistics

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Director of Logistics works with the contracting and Value Analysis teams to insure that product formularies are implemented, and stocked at each distributor utilized by Steward Health Care. Through collaboration and direct accountability with onsite logistics and materials management staff, the Director will develop a system-wide approach for end-to-end supply chain integration that lowers the total cost of distribution and inventory management functions while improving customer service and support to all Steward Health Care caregivers. The Director is accountable for the direct oversight of all logistic and materials management teams across Steward Health Care. The Directorinsures economic delivery to insure the right product is in the right place at the right time. Communicates with Regional Supply Chain Teams on any supply chain needs in specific markets. Works to eliminate obsolesce of medical supplies in the distribution channel, as well as insuring freight optimization is achieved.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Working with the Steward Contracting Team and Value Analysis Leads insure that all Steward Product formularies are available and obtained through the right distribution stream.

* Insures products that are being eliminated are removed from the distribution stream, in time for new product arrival.

* Insures all facilities are conducting cycle counts weekly.

* Insures that all new product formulary items are built in the appropriate MMIS system, and old product formulary items are deactivated to eliminate acquisition.

* Accountable for assuring all implantable and critical care devices / products are managed appropriately across the health system and in compliance with inventory tracking regulations and best practices.

* Responsible for ensuring all patient care areas maintain adequate supplies to meet their needs for safe and effective patient care.

* Ensures logistic and materials management activities are integrated with quality outcomes to deploy a culture of continuous improvement and patient safety.

* Meets with National representatives for distribution to insure that fill rates, and lead days meet standards to be set by Steward.

* Insure the right product at the right price is available for all Steward Health Care locations.

* Oversees the freight cost for all Health Network locations, and insures facilities are using the correct method of shipping.

* Conducts training of local facility staff on freight management.

* Works with the Analytical team to design and review required reports to insure success.

* Analyze previous logistics data to make changes to current logistics processes, as well as provide input into the development, implementation, and/or execution of processes to control labor scheduling

* Responsible for meeting financial and time benchmarks for delivering and receiving supplies and products.

* Maintain relationships with carriers and track and analyze transit times, rates and procedures.

* Establish and maintain distribution facilities and reports on key metrics from those facilities.

* Document local and international regulations, policies, and insurance coverage and tariff rates.

* Design, develop, and manage software and physical systems to meeting shipping and tactical goals.

* Leverages materials management technology solutions to create optimal efficiencies and ensures appropriate information linkages to other systems, i.e., materials / inventory management information systems (Lawson) (MediTech)/ (Optiflex), surgical information systems and patient charge systems, point-of-use technology, and e-commerce.

* Oversee inventory management in all locations.

* Travel required

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

* Knowledge and experience of Supply Chain support processes in a Hospital/Health Care Environment;

* Knowledge and experience of data manipulation software;

* Knowledge and experience with centralized data and document management programs;

* Clear understanding of financial systems with demonstrated experience in cost management;

* Knowledge of Inventory Management systems as well as forecasting methodology/systems;

* Strong project and program management skills;

* Strong organizational skills;

* Strong Microsoft Office skills required;

* Ability to think strategically with confidence and speed in execution;

* Strong analytical, numerical, and reasoning abilities;

* Ability to adjust to rapid changes within the business;

* Ability to successfully manage multiple teams with a collaborative/mentoring style;

* Ability to recruit, train, and motivate personnel in order to balance staffing strength with profitability and growth; and

* Outstanding verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact at all levels of the company.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/LICENSURE/TECHNICAL/OTHER:

Education:

* Bachelor's Degree required; MBA preferred.

* Prior Healthcare Experience Considered

Experience:

* 5-7 years' experience in Materials Management.

* Lawson Procurement (Supply Chain) a plus

* MediTech Procurement (Supply Chain) a plus

Certification/Licensure:

* Certifications in disciplines such as Inventory Management, Lean / Six Sigma, or Operational Planning preferred.

* CMRP Certified

Software/Hardware:

* Microsoft Office suite; MediTech, Lawson

Other:

* Experience with Lawson Excel Add-ins a plus

* Knowledge of Access a plus

* Knowledge of SQL Reports a plus

* Expert troubleshooting and monitoring skills
