WANTED: Head Cook for Le Mars Head Start/Early Head Start. 40 hours per week Monday through Friday (Summer hours will vary the months of June, July & August). Eligible for benefits, including IPERS. High School Diploma or GED required. Cooking knowledge or experience required. Duties include cooking, grocery shopping, following menus and recipes and completing paperwork. Requirements:

* Must be 18 years of age and have a High School Diploma or GED.

* Able to bend, stoop, push, pull and lift up to forty pounds frequently and with some repetition.

Qualifications:

* Cooking knowledge and experience required.

* Adequate math and reading skills.

* Excellent oral and written communication and organizational skills.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

* Be knowledgeable of Head Start Service Plan, Procedures, Performance Standards and Iowa Licensing Regulations.

* Able to relate to low resource preschool children, families and staff in a positive manner.

* Establish and maintain nutritionally balanced meals in a safe and sanitary environment ensuring that the dietary needs of the children are met in compliance with State of Iowa Licensing, HS/EHS and CACFP rules and regulations.

* Supervise Cooks Assistant, and/or volunteers in the kitchen; delegating duties and instructing them in appropriate procedures.

* Responsible for grocery shopping, ordering food and supplies in a timely manner and with consideration of cost.

* Complete required reports, production records and paperwork in an accurate and timely manner.

* Eat breakfast and lunch with the children in a family style setting.

* Collaborate with Center Team to conduct classroom food experiences and to integrate food and nutrition into classroom activities.

* Collaborate with Center Team to provide information to families about nutrition, food preparation and using the eating experience to teach other skills to children.

* Work without direct supervision.

* Follow HS/EHS policies and procedures.

* Responsible for contributing to a positive and productive work environment.

* Be willing and able to substitute as needed in the classroom.

* Able to complete job duties as described with reasonable accommodations.

Other Conditions of Employment:

* Submit to the Department of Human Services Criminal History and a Request for Child Abuse Information Records Check upon employment and every two (2) years thereafter.

* Submit to FBI National Fingerprint Criminal History Check within 30 days and every four (4) years thereafter.

* Submit to a Motor Vehicle Records check prior to employment and every year thereafter.

* Complete a Physical Exam prior to employment.

* Complete a Tuberculosis Screening or Assessment prior to employment.

* Complete mandatory reporter training within 6 months of hire and every 5 years thereafter.

* Adhere to HS/EHS Standards of Conduct.

* Sign and maintain required confidentiality statement.

* Must have a valid drivers license, insurance and reliable transportation.

* Attend required in-services, trainings, orientations and meetings.
