The Remote Senior Systems Administrator is a hands-on role responsible for researching, evaluating, implementing, and supporting World Learning’s global IT infrastructure. As the foremost technical expert, the Senior Systems Administrator ensures that efficient technical and operational standards are established and adhered to, that systems are configured and maintained to support 24/7 operations and that infrastructure technology solutions are secure and sustainable.

Activities include physical server management, SANs, UPS, VMware, Microsoft Servers, M365, Azure, Linux Servers, Veeam backup and recovery, Cisco, public key infrastructure, SSO and vendor engagement.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain all physical and virtual servers including upgrades, patching and update scheduling
  • Manage and maintain all data backup and recovery systems
  • Manage and maintain Windows/Azure Active Directory and Microsoft365
  • Manage and maintain all other critical infrastructure including SANs, VMware vSphere, DNS, DHCP and IP addressing, Network Policy Server, Public Key Infrastructure, DLP, Conditional Access, Endpoint protection
  • Develop, document, and maintain standards to be applied to WL’s global infrastructure
  • Act as technical lead for follow up and resolution of major incidents including security incidents
  • Mentor Service and Support team staff
  • Report key metrics for services, systems and servers, network and telecom infrastructure performance
  • Proactively identify and mitigate risks – also contribute to IT risk register
  • Contribute to short- and long-range planning and serve as lead on infrastructure projects
  • Interface with vendors as required in the ongoing delivery of projects and systems
  • Routinely assess security measures and adhere to security best practices
  • Contribute to project deliverables and support project managers as needed

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role
  • Microsoft and Linux Server operating system administration
  • Active Directory and Azure AD management
  • Virtualization, VMWare vSphere
  • Networking concepts, OSI, TCP/IP, NAT, VPN, VLAN, DNS
  • M365 administration
  • Storage management
  • Veeam Backup and recovery
  • Public Key Infrastructure management
  • Single Sign-On management
  • High availability, redundancy, and disaster recovery
  • Familiarity with Change Management practices
  • Familiarity with Cisco switching and firewalls
  • Highly organized with excellent analytical skills and strong attention to verbal and written detail
