Mechanical Buyer

This role will report to the Purchasing Manager with the responsibility of managing machined and sheet metal fabricated components. The successful candidate will work closely with the Suppliers, Operations, Engineering, and other groups to ensure organizational objectives for Quality, delivery and cost are met

Purchasing Responsibilities:

* Manage and procure machined and sheet metal fabricated components ensuring on-time delivery of components.

* Identify system demand or BOM issues and resolve inventory discrepancies.

* Gather necessary internal documentation; submit and analyze RFQ's and recommend business awards.

* Follow-up or expedite orders as necessary to meet schedules.

* Interface with suppliers to ensure performance expectations and optimal business relationships are maintained.

* Resolve invoice, packing slip and certificate of compliance issues as needed.

* Assist in implementing systematic solutions to control inventory flow, minimize shortages, and maintain accuracy in ERP system and MS Excel (where required).

* Keep the Purchasing Manager informed of critical issue or problems that require escalation

Supplier Selection and Sourcing Responsibilities:

* Participate in efforts for supplier analysis and selections, make/buy, outsourcing, and transitions.

* Ensures NDA, SOW's and Master Purchase Agreement are positioned appropriately before business is initiated.

* Play lead role in supplier negotiations and aligning expectations. Many types of agreements with suppliers; including purchasing agreements, development, Supply, VMI, indemnification, etc. Monitor agreements and expectations.

* Partners closely with legal department in working contract language.

Supplier Management Responsibilities:

* Develop relationships and interface with supplier representatives to ensure supplier commitment to key programs;

* Maintain supplier performance metrics and negotiate on multiple variables to award long term strategic contracts that result in significant cost reduction and improved service levels in quality and delivery.

* Maintain internal systems to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and Carbon's quality standards.

* Establish and manage continuous improvement projects and support supplier business reviews.

* Develop spend strategies, identify alternate suppliers, analyze supplier capabilities, select suppliers and determine prices, terms, and conditions of agreements.

Quality Management Responsibilities:

* Partner closely with SQE to drive development and improvement of supplier quality systems and processes.

* Facilitate and track RMAs between suppliers and Carbon, Inc

Requirements:

* 5+ years experience in strategic sourcing, supply chain, engineering and/or commodity management with a focus on machining, sheet metal and plating

* Master's Degree and/or BS in engineering, CPIM Certification

* Demonstrated negotiation experience working with suppliers and contracts

* Self starter, ability to work independently

* Good communication and relationship building skills

* Ability to travel up to 50% of the time, both domestic and international
