Chief Engineer (FAAD/C-RAM/M-SHORAD C2)

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems Missile Defense and Protective Systems Division is looking for a chief engineer for the Forward Area Air Defense (FAAD)/Counter Rockets Artillery and Mortars (C-RAM) Command and Control (C2) Program team at our Redondo Beach, CA location. As the FAAD/C-RAM C2 Chief Engineer, the successful candidate will maintain and control the technical baseline and decide changes to the baseline FAAD and C-RAM missions, the continually expanding Counter Unmanned Aircraft System (C-UAS) mission, and lead the technical team as program transitions to be the C2 system for the U.S. Army's Maneuver Short Range Air Defense (M-SHORAD) C2 System.

The FAAD/C-RAM/M-SHORAD C2 Chief Engineer will:

* Work with management staff to determine the goals of the company or organization

* Plan for each phase of the project with the different project disciplines: System Engineering, Software Development, Integration, Test, and Logistics

* Support recruitment of engineering staff

* Work with Mission Assurance, Safety, and Information Assurance to implement quality control checks, ensure the safety, effectiveness, and reliability of the system

* Evaluate the costs within a specific time frame; able to consider trade-offs between resources available and engineering/technical goals and garner support from all stakeholders for the decisions made

* Negotiate with team members to generate ideas and clarify specifications

* Work with the different discipline managers to delegate tasks as necessary to engineering team

* Resolve disputes between interdisciplinary team members

* Assure the configuration of complex design solutions and the definition of the product architecture according to the contractual requirements

* Verify the availability and suitability of technologies to assure the development of the project; stays current with the state of the art for technologies that intersect with the program's problem space

* Coordinate the activities of definition and configuration control ensuring that the product conforms to design requirements

* Assure the activities of project/product verification and ensure that the product conforms to the defined requirement and standards

* Convey and communicate the vision of the system to stakeholders, Customers, and management; documents the overall system using various views in presentation materials and standardized design artifacts

* Travel to CONUS and OCONUS locations (government and other contractors) to support technical reviews, technical interface meetings, integration events, and government tests

The qualified candidate will have the following experience:

* Working in a high stress, constantly changing, schedule driven program

* Solving technical problems


Basic Qualifications:

* Bachelor of Science Degree in engineering/physics with at least 12 years of technical experience in Systems Engineering Integration and Test

* Active DoD secret clearance

* Experience negotiating technical capabilities and schedule with program team including the government team, Northrop Grumman team, and other contractor teams

* Experience integrating sensor systems into a C2 system to include air track radar systems, RAM track radar systems, acoustic systems, and camera systems

* Experience integrating weapon systems into a C2 system to include interceptor systems, kinetic defeat systems, electronic warfare systems, and directed energy systems

* Experience supporting the FAAD/C-RAM C2 Program
