SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITY:
Freight Forwarding Sr. Import/Export Coordinator is responsible for preparing for weekly report and making bookings to secure shipping space, and arranging trucking schedules for following weeks’ load. Sr. Import/Export Coordinator also prepares shipping documents and bookings, checks warehouse to make sure sufficient amounts of items available.
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Preparation of essential shipping documentation on a daily basis
Following up and updating customers on their import/export shipments
Communicating with steamship lines, terminals, customs brokers, truckers and overseas agents
Ensuring all shipment documentation is in compliance with customs rules and regulations
Calculating weight, volume and cost of goods being moved
Coordinating release and entry processing for ocean and air import shipments, including U.S.
Customs and Border Protection, coordinating freight releases and arrange final delivery if needed
Maintain effective relationship with clients, carriers, forwarders, customs etc.
Prepare price quotes on international freight
Develop and maintain relationships with customers as well as vendors specifically steamship
lines and customs
Research and resolve operational problems
Ensure customer needs are consistently met and assist to resolve inquiries
Expedite clearance and delivery to exceed customer requirements
Ongoing coaching and development of staff skills.
QUALIFICATIONS & RELEVANT EXPERIENCE:
Sr. Import/Export Coordinator - College degree or minimum 4 years relevant experience in
International freight forwarding
Must have a working knowledge of the sea and air freight exports and imports, US Customs, consolidation, NVOCC, tariff’s air carrier terminology and TSA regulations
Superior communication, organization, and follow-through skills essential.
Work well in a team environment and assist other peers when needed
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, and time management skills.
