Position Information

The Coder II, Inpatient performs the functions of coding, DRG assignment, collection of predefined indicators and abstracting medical records with a case mix greater than 1.5. Provides timely and accurate ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes for reimbursement and specific information for statistical purposes. Remains current with recognized resources - AHA Coding Clinic and Official Coding Guidelines. Groups discharges utilizing the 3M encoder selecting the appropriate DRG for reimbursement. Communicates with physicians and clinical staff regarding coding and documentation issues.

Experience Requirements:

4 Years Coding - Inpatient Required

Education Required:

Bachelor's Degree Health Information Management Required - Or Associate's Degree Health Information Management Required - With Equivalent Experience

Licensure/Certification Requirements:

Registered Health Information Administrator Or Registered Health Information Technician Or Certified Coding Specialist Preferred

Hours of Work: 5 days/8 hours

Weekend Requirements: As Needed

Call Requirements: As needed
