The Roads and Pads Operators (levels 1-4) will operate a wide range of heavy industrial equipment including, but not limited to graders, loaders, snowblowers, maxi hauls, dozers, excavators and tankers in support of the Greater Prudhoe Bay road and pad systems. Operators will be required to safely perform pad lifts, roll and level road systems and pads, remove snow, load and unload materials and supplies on the job site daily. This position will require a Class A CDL. Unique and specific job responsibilities for each level is detailed in the knowledge, skills and abilities section.

This position will be North Slope based, rotational work assignment of two week on with two-weeks off or three weeks on with three weeks off. Relocation assistance to Alaska is not provided; however, transportation between Anchorage and Prudhoe Bay is provided. Room and meals are provided while in Prudhoe Bay.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Complete DOT pre and post trip inspections of trucks/trailers/heavy equipment prior to use, which includes checking the oil, fuel, general and visual inspection of the entire chassis (depending on type of each equipment being operated) windshield, mirrors, blade, tracks, wheel rims, thumping each tire and lug nuts.
  • Complete a job specific task hazard assessment (Pre-Task Safety Plan) prior to starting any job
  • Notify lead or dispatch of any recognized faulty equipment and red tag for repair
  • Adhere to all North slope client and Worley’s health, safety and environment policies and procedures at all times
  • Safely secure all loads in accordance with DOT and company policies and best practices
  • Safely drive equipment to dispatched locations
  • Maintain equipment in good/clean working order
  • Maintain communications with dispatch and clients
  • Attend all toolbox and safety meetings

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (Level 4 Operator)

  • Operator is responsible for operating heavy industrial equipment to lift, roll, haul, load, unload, and move supplies and materials on the job site
  • This position may supervise and coordinate the work of other equipment operators and crew members
  • Four (4) or more years of experience, with 5,000 documented hours or equivalent
  • Highly skilled and competent in the operation of at least five different pieces of equipment
  • Knowledge of the functional operation, purpose, capabilities and limitations of any piece of equipment qualified to operate
  • Ability to read and understand the results and what each gauge signifies on each piece of equipment being operated
  • Ability to read and understand job descriptions, safety/technical manuals, procedures, maps, permits, JSA’s (Job Safety Analysis), task hazard assessment cards (Pre- Task Safety Plan), safety/warning signs and demonstrate competency, either oral or written, as required
  • Must display sufficient oral communication skills to be able to give and receive emergency instructions, oral safety warnings, instructions, and task assignments
  • Ability to complete a task hazard awareness assessment and administer mitigation
  • Ability to safely drive, back and operate heavy industrial equipment in congested areas and in severe weather conditions
  • Knowledge of standard DOT regulations
  • Must be able to follow all company, client, safety and regulatory requirements, including, but not limited to, policies, procedures, standards and guidelines as they relate to this position and the work duties being performed

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (Level 3 Operator)

  • Operator is responsible for operating heavy industrial equipment to lift, roll, haul, load, unload, and move supplies and materials on the job site
  • This position may supervise and coordinate the work of other equipment operators and crew members
  • Two to four (2-4) years of experience, 3000 documented hours or equivalent
  • Advanced skills and competent in the operation of at least four different pieces of equipment
  • Knowledge of the functional operation, purpose, capabilities and limitations of any piece of equipment qualified to operate
  • Ability to read and understand the results and what each gauge signifies on each piece of equipment being operated
  • Ability to read and understand job descriptions, safety/technical manuals, procedures, maps, permits, JSA’s (Job Safety Analysis), task hazard assessment cards (Pre-Task Safety Plan), safety/warning signs and demonstrate competency, either oral or written, as required
  • Must display sufficient oral communication skills to be able to give and receive emergency instructions, oral safety warnings, instructions, and task assignments
  • Ability to complete a task hazard awareness assessment and administer mitigation
  • Ability to safely drive, back and operate heavy industrial equipment in congested areas and in severe weather conditions
  • Knowledge of standard DOT regulations

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (Level 1&2 Operator)

  • Operator is responsible for operating heavy industrial equipment to lift, roll, haul, load, unload, and move supplies and materials on the job site
  • Two (2) years minimum experience, 1500 hours documented hours or equivalent
  • Medium Skilled, Competency assured on 2 different types of equipment.
  • Knowledge of the functional operation, purpose, capabilities and limitations of any piece of equipment qualified to operate
  • Ability to read and understand the results and what each gauge signifies on each piece of equipment being operated
  • Ability to read and understand job descriptions, safety/technical manuals, procedures, maps, permits, JSA’s (Job Safety Analysis), task hazard assessment cards (Pre-Task Safety Plan), safety/warning signs and demonstrate competency, either oral or written, as required
  • Must display sufficient oral communication skills to be able to give and receive emergency instructions, oral safety warnings, instructions, and task assignments
  • Ability to complete a task hazard awareness assessment and administer mitigation
  • Ability to safely drive, back and operate heavy industrial equipment in congested areas and in severe weather conditions
  • Knowledge of standard DOT regulations

Physical Demand/Work Environment

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.   • Must have ability to stand, walk on level, uneven and slippery surfaces, sit, squat, kneel, reach through low and high ranges and exhibit normal balance and coordination. These basic physical requirements are essential for safe performance of the job in harsh environments with exposure to very cold temperatures and while wearing arctic gear.
  • Lift 40 lbs. from floor to knuckles x 5 with a 12 second interval
  • Lift 40 lbs. from floor to waist x 5 with a 12 second interval
  • Lift 40 lbs. from floor to from floor to shoulders x 5 with a 12 second interval,
  • Carry 40 lbs. for 50 feet x 2 for a total of 100 ft. Self-paced but continuous; allow a 60 second rest break after carrying 50 ft
  • Stairs: Climb up and down 12 steps x 3 for a total of 36 steps; self-paced, continuous
  • Stair Climb and Carry: While carrying 40 lbs. with one hand and holding onto a railing with the other hand for safety, walk up and down 8 steps x 2 for a total of 16 steps; self-paced, but continuous
  • Slanted ladder: Climb up and down 6 rungs x 2 for a total of 12 rungs; self-paced
  • Push Test: Generate horizontally between waist and shoulder level a peak isometric push force of 120 lbs.
  • Repetitive Kneel Test: Perform from standing, kneel on one knee, alternate from left to right knee, x 5 each knee
  • Repetitive Stoop Test: From standing, bend forward at waist as far as possible without bending the knees reaching hands toward the floor x 5; self-paced, but continuous
  • Repetitive Squat Test: Perform a functional squat and stand x 5
  • Twist and Flex Test: Perform from standing alternate toe touches x 5 to each side to assess ability to twist and flex the trunk repetitively

Required Qualifications

  • Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) required
  • Current DOT medical card required
  • Two (2) years minimum experience, 1500 hours documented hours or equivalent required
  • Ability to be covered by Worley’s auto insurance provider

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with remote North Slope operations or arctic experience preferred
  • Tanker and Hazardous endorsements preferred
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) preferred
