GENERAL OVERVIEW

Performs tasks associated with assembling, troubleshooting, configuring and testing of network hardware and test support equipment. Responsibilities include repair, maintenance and upgrades to software and accurately documenting all work performed. Applies some advanced skills; duties and tasks and frequently non-routine. Resolves most problems and refers only more complex issues to higher levels. Works under minimal supervision.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

* Works with detailed instructions, electronic tools and test equipment to assemble the following components: electronic pipe test fixtures, network server rack mount systems and cable assemblies.

* Installs and configures firmware and hardware in servers and electronic test fixtures and performs testing to certify that the hardware is qualified for field use.

* Documents and keeps a detailed history of the components assembled.

* Troubleshoots and assesses problems with network hardware in order to make corrections. May require assistance from more experienced technician, lead and/or supervisor.

* Repairs network hardware and tests support equipment. Accurately documents the repair work performed and submits this information to engineering for review.

* Performs maintenance on IntelliServ network hardware and test support equipment. Includes firmware/software upgrades as needed.

* Documents all hardware deployed to the field and performs routine recalls on this equipment to perform scheduled maintenance and upgrades.

* Other duties as assigned.

PREFERRED JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

* Associates Degree in Electronics Technology or related field.

Technical Competencies

* Excellent written and spoken English language skills.

* Ability to understand and follow company safety policies and procedures.

* Experience using MS Office.

* Experienced and certified with J-Standard Soldering.

* Firm soldering experience.

* Firm understanding of basic electronic symbols.

* Firm understanding of lean manufacturing principles.

* Experience applying procedures for detailed documentation of work orders, travelers, process data, test results, etc.

* Strong experience reading and understanding electronic schematics and blueprints.

* Strong experience using electronic test equipment and tools (i.e. DMM and oscilloscopes).

* Actively participates in quality improvement initiatives and provides feedback to management.

* Experience with all types of hand tools such as; hammers, screwdrivers, wrenches, wire strippers, etc.

* Experience providing overall training and guidance to less experienced personnel preferred.

* Strong experience with PC board electronic testing and troubleshooting to the component level and experience training and supervising staff performing this work preferred.

* Proficient in reading and understanding electronic schematics and experience in training and supervising staff performing these skills preferred.
