Financial and Operational Accounting Analyst

TGS Management Company, LLC. Princeton, NJ
Position Summary

We are looking for a talented accountant to work with the accounting and operational platforms that support our quantitative trading systems. An ideal candidate will have substantive accounting experience in environments processing large volumes of data, extensive experience with accounting automation (Excel, VBA, SQL, or similar), as well as excellent training and/or academic qualifications in accounting and operations. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment, including extensive interaction with senior management and collaboration with peers, is essential to success in this role. Experience in finance is preferred but not required.

Our Company

For over two decades, the TGS team has built quantitative trading systems that have produced exceptional results across a range of financial markets. We use scientific methods and engineering discipline to solve challenging problems and develop technology solutions. Our East Coast office houses a team of talented business, finance, technical, operational, and accounting professionals in the heart of historic Princeton.

As an employer, we are small, discreet, and highly selective. We look for exceptional people with proven track records of performance and achievement, and are far more interested in aptitude and potential than expertise in any particular technology, tool set, or professional domain. If you're inspired by the idea of working on interesting problems with talented colleagues, we invite you to share your resume and explore the possibility of joining our team.

Skills and Capabilities

We seek a quantitatively talented accounting professional with strong analytical and technical skills for our Princeton office. A strong knowledge of Excel – including Visual Basic for Applications (VBA), SQL, and Access databases – is essential.

Among other things, the role may involve:

* Reconciliation of broker accounts

* Preparation of general ledger postings and monthly closings

* Tracking of fixed asset inventory

* Analysis of margin calculations and daily cash requirements

* Review of accounts payable processes

Because of the company's culture and small size, a premium is placed on independent, self-motivated people who excel in their field of expertise but can also contribute in other areas. It is critical to have well developed communication skills for effective direct work with firms' senior management and its brokers, CPA's and attorneys.

We take a long-term view when selecting employees, so exact experience is less important than evidence that you can achieve a high level of productivity and can adapt quickly to find effective practical solutions in new areas.

Our compensation package is excellent. In addition to a base salary, substantial additional compensation could be in bonuses that reflect your individual contribution as well as the company's overall portfolio performance.
