The purpose of the Golf Groundskeeper 1 position is to maintain the landscaping of their assigned areas and provide outstanding customer service to both our guests and owners. The position requires that the person be able to meet the physical demands of the job, performs manually or operate machinery to perform course maintenance activities as directed.

General Responsibilities

* Use equipment safely and prudently.

* Work amiably and cooperatively with other employees.

* Know condition of and performance of equipment and report malfunctions immediately.

* Perform other activities as directed Asst. Superintendent or Superintendent.

* Show respect and consideration for golf players.

* Must be able to work alone and stay on task.

* Must be able to follow directions, verbal and written and work safely and competently.

* Make guests and owners feel welcome and appreciated, give excellent customer service.

* General maintenance and cleanup of equipment.

* Must be able to get along with others and work well in a team environment.

* Contributes in meetings and group gatherings.

* Ability to give constructive feedback and offer ideas for change and improvement.

* Litter patrol; maintaining dumpster stations, doggie stations and recycle stations.

* Operate mechanical and motorized equipment.

* Be able to turn automatic irrigation controllers off and on.

* Work in adverse weather; cold/heat; rain/snow.

* Other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements

* Mowing, both riding and walk behind.

* Available to work early hours and weekends.

* Participating knowledge of the game of golf.

* Ability to work cooperatively with staff and other resort departments.

* Ability to use string trimmer

* Edging, mechanical, half-moon and removing edged material from asphalt.

* Weed Control; on hands and knees, use of long handled tools, use of 2 gallon hand held sprayer, use of up to 25 gallon sprayer loaded in a service vehicle.

* Fertilizer application; lift up to 50 lb bags, push wheeled fertilizer spreader with 50 lbs of material; carry hand held/shoulder strap fertilizer dispenser with 14 lbs of material.

* Pruning; use of hand saw, loppers, hand pruners and pole pruner to remove branches 3" or less up to 6ft high. Ability to prune low shrubs at ground level to 6ft; working on either knees or standing.

* Raking, sweeping, use of backpack blower.
