What you will do:

The Treasury & Compliance Assistant will be part of the Finance team based in Portland, Oregon. This role will work side-by-side with the Treasurer & Risk Manager managing the Cooperatives risks. This role will be responsible for monthly journal entries & reconciliations, sales tax filings, state registration and compliance, filing and monitoring insurance claims, and assisting with the annual insurance renewal. Additionally, this role will monitor trademarks and provide administrative support to the legal contract function.

Here's a day in the life:

* Calculate and file all sales taxes

* Calculate and book monthly interest accruals

* Participate in finance monthly close process booking JE's as assigned

* Maintain up to date reconciliations of appropriate key balance sheet accounts

* File and monitor insurance claims and interact with insurance representatives

* Assist with annual insurance renewal data gathering

* Register company in new states as needed

* Maintain organized legal files containing all final signed contracts

* Monitor trademark compliance and report findings

* Assist with current manual legal contract work-signature/email copies/filing

* Assist with legal automation projects – DocuSign and contracts management system

* Implement and maintain a sales tax exemption tracking process

* Provide backup for Treasurer & Risk Manager as needs arise

* Utilizes a computer with intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Word and Outlook.Advanced Excel skills and strong system skills are required. ERP system database skills are a plus.

* Acts as a strong team player who is able to work across multiple functions and disciplines and lead by example.

* Demonstrates strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to express key points in a clear manner.

* Demonstrates excellent time-management skills with the ability to work with minimal direction when necessary to support the group's objectives,

* Possesses excellent organizational and analytical skills.

Skills you'll need:


Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent experience


5+ years of finance experience, including month end close and sales tax filing. Prior experience with contract management and organization, or as a para-legal, preferred but not required. This role requires attention to detail, organization, time management and the ability to switch between many different tasks easily.
