JOB TITLE: SITE SUPERVISOR ON SPECIAL ASSIGNMENT (SOSA), OUTDOOR SCHOOL

REPORTS TO: Coordinator, Environmental Education

POSITION PURPOSE:

To provide guidance and support to the Outdoor School program related to participant science and social-emotional learning. Coordinate evaluation and assessment. Fill in as needed in Outdoor School settings.

NATURE & SCOPE:

This position is subject to board policies, administrative rules and procedures, department regulations and applicable state and federal statutes. This position carries no administrative authority or responsibility.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

* Provides training, direction, feedback, verbal and written evaluations to temporary staff related to curriculum, and social-emotional learning.

* Maintains communication with Coordinator and Supervisor by keeping Coordinator and Supervisor informed in a timely manner regarding problems, issues, and concerns.

* Conducts public outreach events for students, parents, District Personnel, and other stakeholders as needed.

* Ensure alignment between assessments, curriculum, content standards, School District priorities, funders requirements, and MESD goals.

* Analyze and create and disseminate reports based on evaluation, assessment data, and reporting requirements.

* Provide support to site supervisors, coordinator, and supervisor in data analysis related to student achievement goals.

* Provide guidance on the development of procedures and best practice in Outdoor School programs related to student mental health and social-emotional learning.

* Supports recruiting efforts of seasonal staff and High School Student Leaders.

* Coordinates and supports trainings and activities with Cook, Kitchen Assistant, Dishwasher, Nurse, and others as needed.

* Fill in as needed for site supervisors on site. Work collaboratively with teachers, site managers, and staff to implement the Outdoor School program.

* Confers with site supervisors, teachers, and other District Personnel as needed.

* Communicates with others utilizing appropriate verbal and non-verbal interaction.

* Follows policies of District and procedures of the Outdoor School program.

* Performs other related duties as assigned by the Coordinator which are indicated to assure the physical and emotional well-being of students.

* Respond to calls from Outdoor School program staff at all hours during on-site program times.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:

* Provides backup support to other staff as requested.

* Attends department and other staff meetings.

* Performs other related duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

* Valid First Aid/CPR card.

* Valid Oregon Food Handlers card.

* Valid Drivers License and vehicle available for use on the job.

* The ability to live on site Sunday noon to Friday noon for limited durations.

* Ability to consult with staff on an on-call basis during the session.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

One year paid experience working with children and/or adolescents in an educational or recreational setting. One year paid experience supervising adults in a professional setting. College coursework or experience in the area of science and/or education. Desired TSPC license, though not required. Preferred experience with social-emotional learning, data collection and/or assessment.
