Position Summary

The Construction Engineering (CE) IV is an Expert role in Battery and/or Ground Mounts to the CE team. After a project has been uploaded from the site audit they would review the data and determine adders and work necessary to make the project buildable. The CE IV should be able to design & build systems to make sure the Freedom production guarantee is met or true-up is completed within the boundaries of the SunRun agreement. The CE IV will complete PV design packages, the packages will consist of electrical, structural and layout design work that follows building and electrical codes as well as jurisdictional requirements for permitting. The CE IV will work directly with Dealer, HQ and Branch teams alike to present solutions and ways to make every job more profitable, ie. working with the Project Management team to acquire bids and working with our branches to help improve install time and quality.

Job Duties/ Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate independent judgment and knowledge of solar construction including roofing, electrical, and ground-mounted and battery installations
  • Demonstrate advanced skills and knowledge of all aspects of solar construction including roofing, electrical, and ground-mounted installations
  • Excel at problem-solving and identifying solutions to lower job costs and create buildable jobs for all branches
  • Performing engineering calculations per the NEC and building codes to properly size equipment
  • Drafting system layouts, one‐line diagrams and sitemaps
  • Staying educated on the latest equipment and industry best practices
  • Create RFQ’s for Project Managers to request quotes from Subcontractors
  • Self‐proofing work to ensure accuracy before allowing any project to continue through the pipeline
  • Be comfortable completing research online and via phone for solar projects
  • Coordinate with Headquarters & Branch departments on a daily basis
  • Identify and compile issues with respect to significant matters and present them to Management in an articulated manner for resolution
  • Follow standard operating procedures and protocol to ensure the accuracy of your layouts
  • Maintain department standards and work with management to improve process and build requirements
  • Provide feedback to the Site Auditors (SAs) and SA Supervisor in each branch to improve the quality of data presented to Headquarters
  • Complete all assigned Edd app courses
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualification Requirement

  • Must have working knowledge of the Freedom CE team standards & best practices
  • Must have a working knowledge of the Freedom HQ teams and the role they play
  • Good communication and 'people' skills
  • Must have a proven high skill level to interpret blueprints and other project documents, including but not limited to, specifications, reporting, and quality requirements
  • Must know how to handle problems quickly and efficiently
  • Must be very organized and have great communication skills
  • Ability to demonstrate strong computer skills
  • IV+ Years in Construction / Solar installation experience(or have the internal Freedom experience)
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Office
  • 2+ Years of experience in Solar as a Designer(or have the internal Freedom experience)
  • Demonstrated ability to solve complicated electrical and construction issues
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Office
  • Exceptional creative problem‐solving and analytical skills
  • Acute attention to detail
  • Experience with electrical or mechanical design
  • Knowledge of the National Electric Code
  • Knowledge of the Building Code
  • Ability to stay organized and maintain project records
  • Must be a team player
  • Must work well unsupervised and be self‐motivated
