Automation Engineer

The primary responsibility of the Automation Engineer is to safely implement cost saving and quality improving measures through automation. This position will technically support, implement and improve the Engineering department's processes and procedures. The Automation Engineer will lead or assist in the building and implementation of internal automation projects, as well as any external automation projects for production and application engineering. Utilization of project management skills to define, plan, track, document and bring projects to successful completion on time. This position may also mentor automation interns.

* Design, build, and integrate automation projects to help reduce costs by reducing direct labor utilizing Solid Works.

* Manage outsourced automation projects by specifying Saint-Gobain preferred vendors, monitoring costs, safety standards and general automation quality.

* Assist production and engineering in troubleshooting in-house automation.

* Design and document fixtures, punches, and other production related equipment.

* Write and execute IOQ's and PQ's for new and existing projects.

* Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, or related field required

* 2+ years' work experience as a Manufacturing or Automation Engineer win a manufacturing/production environment

* Excellent procedural & project management skills

* Strong communication skills

* Exhibits good environmental practices and procedures consistent with job(s) performed and EMS (Environmental Management System) requirements

* Strong skills with automation including troubleshooting, part feeding, PLC integration (Automation Direct), pneumatics, etc.

* Working knowledge of Solid Works and other computer applications
