You will serve as a Administrative/Technical Specialist in the Naval Surface Warfare Center (NAVSURFWARCEN) Port Hueneme Division, Office of Counsel of NAVAL SURFACE WARFARE CENTER.

* You will provide legal and administrative support to attorneys in the Counsel's office.

* You will ensure effective operation of the legal office.

* You will ensure compliance with the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA)/Privacy Act as it pertains to legal actions within the office.

* You will provide or assist with training presentations on subjects such as ethics and unauthorized commitments.

* You will perform legal research, prepare documents and files for submission in legal proceedings, and assist in preparation for litigation under supervision of an attorney.

* You will develop, capture, and implement legal office processes and procedures.

* You will manage and track office correspondence.

* You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.

* This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

* You will be required to complete ethics orientation within three months of appointment and submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450, within 30 days of appointment.


Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the NT-03 (GS-9/10) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Performing legal analysis or research and managing legal documents.

* Education may be substituted for specialized experience as follows:

* A Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree; OR

* Three full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent degree; OR

* An LL.M. degree in a field directly related to the position being filled; OR

* A combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience.
