Job Description

The I&C Engineer works closely with more experienced engineers and assists in the development of deliverables. This individual is expected to execute work on one or more intermediate level tasks simultaneously as delegated by the Lead or Sr. Engineer.

This individual may also delegate some basic and fundamental tasks to Entry-Level and Design staff. They are still developing and expanding their ability to coordinate effectively with other disciplines, delegate, interact with clients, and manage scopes of work and deliverables. This role will have the ability to successfully execute and lead (on small projects) all phases of design including initial programming, planning, feasibility, scope and concept development, detailed design, construction documentation, and construction administration or hold primary responsibility for one or more of them on a large project. The Individual will expand their knowledge and skill sets to include design and specifications of more complex control systems, using multiple controllers and expanded workstations and server infrastructure.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • ABET-accredited Bachelor’s degree in discipline specific degree (ARE, ChemE, ME or EE)
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience required, preferably in a design firm setting
  • Fundamentals of Engineering Exam registration or completion preferred

Additional Qualifications

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office required
  • Basic experience with performing instrumentation and controls engineering calculations, and developing and implementing instrumentation and control system design required
  • Basic experience with implementing fundamental design aspects of control system schematics, panel fabrication drawings, field wiring plans design preferred
  • Basic experience reading and interpreting Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams
  • Basic experience with the electrical code required
  • Basic experience with other applicable industry standards required
  • Basic experience with applicable building codes required
  • Proficient with basic internal and external cross-discipline project team coordination required
  • Proficient with basic coordination with construction trade partners, vendors, and manufacturers required
  • Proficient at basic design calculations under supervision of a Lead or Senior Engineer required

Responsibilities

  • Successfully execute and lead (on small projects) all phases of design including initial programming, planning, feasibility, scope and concept development, detailed design, construction documentation, and construction administration or hold primary responsibility for one or more of them on a large project.
  • Interface with client and external partners
  • Conducting and leading field surveys of existing conditions and support of field reporting required
  • Develop construction drawing packages and write construction specifications and instrument specifications on basic projects of limited complexity with oversight preferred
  • Basic support of construction activities such as RFI responses, submittal reviews, punch list development, and construction progress reports
  • Participate and contribute to squad and overall commitment to producing quality deliverables
  • Participate in basic project system design programming and master planning with support from lead or Senior Engineer
