Collection Supervisor-(Float Pool)

Position Summary

Functions in a leadership role coordinating, operating and evaluating blood drives and CDC's with Donor Servies Manager. Provides back up support for screening and phlebotomy procedures as needed. Assists, coaches and monitors staff for compliance. Supports the philosophy, goals and objectives of the organizations. Acts as a role model for staff by adhering to all policies.

* Major Activity: Manages Blood Collection Activities. Monitors technical performance of all staff to ensure compliance.

* Reports any inconsistencies to Manager. Motivates, supervises, directs, mentors and supports staff.

* Assesses the learning needs of staff by monitoring proficiency and productivity. Reports needs to Manager. Assures compliance of new and existing policies and procedures with staff.

* Ensures professionalism, excellent customer service, courtesy and respect are practiced by staff. Reports any misconduct to Regional Manager. Answers staff questions and addresses concerns.

* Ensures all quality control procedures are performed as required and monitors results.

* Maintains technical skills and knowledge to support and enhance staff proficiency in all collections activities.

* Major Activity: Provides Quality Customer Service to Customers by demonstrating cooperative behavior when working with peers and assigned staff as demonstrated by readiness to assist others and through the support of organizational policies.

* Develops strong leaders by providing coaching, mentoring and support to meet performance standards.

* Identifies through review of skills, assessment and audit/observation focus areas for performance improvement

* Demonstrates an interactive leadership style that serves as a role model for leadership development

* Major Activity: Meets the organizations expectations regarding general conduct and follows all company policies and procedures.

* Major Activity: Must maintain competency in proficiency testing procedures required by outside agencies including but not limited to the Hemocue hemoglobin quality control process.

* Major Activity: Other duties as assigned, including but not limited to performing/ reviewing hemoglobin quality control.

Education and Training:

* High School education

* 1 year Post-secondary education required, such as: Medical Assistant, Certified Medical Assistant, RN, LRN, Emergency Medical Technician

Work Experience:

* 5 years relevant work experience is required

* 1 year supervisory experience required (in-charge or preceptor experience included)

* 2 years experience in blood collection preferred.

* Experience in customer service with successful record of providing customer satisfaction.

Required Skills:

* Displayed proficiency to plan, organize, direct and control all aspects of operations in order to meet the company's short- and long-term objectives.

* Demonstrated effective problem solving skills.

* Proven ability to work independently.

* Proven Ability to multi-task.

* Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record consistent with ITxM policy.

* Basic computer competency

* Proven ability to lead and motivate staff.

Donor Experience:

* Language skills must include the ability to read, write, speak English effectively and follow oral and written instructions consistent with policies and procedure, SOPs or other requirements.

* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

* Frequent contact with staff regarding work direction and operations.

* Frequent contact with management, internal and external customers

* Exhibits courtesy and sensitivity to customers/donors

* Manages difficult or emotional donors/customer situations with diplomacy and courtesy

* Responds promptly to customer/donor needs and requests for service or assistance

* Considers the perspectives of diverse populations of our donors/customers

* Exhibits tact and consideration to donors/customers and coworkers

* Supports the Donor First philosophy


* Provides leadership for all Donor Specialists

* Experience managing multiple projects to closure

* Experience in control and tracking of outcomes

* Experience in Employee Relations

Physical Demands/Work Environment:

* Required to spend the majority of the workday bending, standing, walking, talking, hearing and using hands.

* Must be able to work in a variety of sites with varying accessibility. Required to lift up to 75 pounds and able to assist in lifting donor(s).

* Close vision and peripheral vision required as well as the ability to focus on detailed tasks and paperwork.

* Employee is exposed to blood or blood products 100% of the workday.

* OSHA Category I: position whose task/duties will put them at risk for exposure to blood and other potentially infectious materials, therefore, universal/standard precautions required.

* Moderate noise level.

* Required to travel to different mobile drives and/or donor center locations to perform tasks as assigned.
