The Senior Lean Coach assists transportation Division and/or Section leadership in deployment of a fully sustainable lean management system through the coordination of systems, tools and process improvement efforts. The position is aligned with and works in collaboration with the Office of Continuous Improvement to maintain standards across the agency. This position serves as a Sr. Level position and will supervise employees.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

* Helps establish deployment activities with senior division or group leaders that build a continuous improvement environment. Assist in identification, prioritization and selection of potential projects to optimize existing processes for waste reduction and cost control; to align with agency strategies. Identify, develop, and maintain metrics to measure the success of AMS initiatives

* Builds and develops coaching, facilitation and problem solving skills at the leadership level. Conducts training of AMS tools (Voice of Customer, Value Stream Mapping, 5-S, Problem Solving Methods, Standard Work, Visual Management, Leader Standard Work, Kaizen, etc.)

* Supervise lean coaches with the division or group. Lead and/or facilitate cross functional or cross divisional process improvement efforts, provides guidance and support to teams and leadership


Knowledge of:

* Mastery of Lean tools and principles

* Leading Kaizen Improvements

* Business operations and management systems

* Strategic Planning

* Quality Management

* Six Sigma

* Governmental organizational structure, principles and practices of public administration

Skills in:

* Communication - Must possess the ability to communicate effectively in individual and group settings; Both oral and written skills required

* Facilitation Skills - senior members of the OCI must have extensive experience facilitating team-based problem solving

* Computer - Must be able to navigate the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, and Visio)

* Organizational Skills - Must be able to organize multiple projects and tasks simultaneously

* Analytical Skills - Must be able to analyze data, reports, and statistics to identify waste and recommend best practices

Ability to:

* Identify and resolve problems

* Help leadership prioritize projects/initiatives and management systems

* Coach deliverable's of continuous improvement

* Build and maintain relationships by working effectively with others (peers, other units, management) to accomplish goals and to identify and resolve problems

* Coach mentor and train others on lean concepts, techniques, and methodologies

* Present findings and make recommendations to management


The ideal candidate for this position will have substantial experience in Lean, Six Sigma or the Arizona Management System and knowledge of transportation.

This position requires possession of a valid Arizona Class D Driver License. Candidates for this position must complete page 5 of the State of Arizona Application for Employment at the time of interview, which will allow ADOT to obtain the candidate's motor vehicle record (MVR).
