How you can make a difference

As a key member of the Technology Infrastructure & Network Services team, you'll be responsible for the management, architecture, configuration, DR, and administration of Sonora Quest's virtualized systems. You will be responsible for the implementation and administration of WMware-centric solutions and related technologies. Our team is responsible for driving scalable architecture, minimizing risks, providing visibility across a multitude of environments, systems and applications while using lean principles at scale in a fast-paced environment.

What you'll be doing

  • Daily administration, configuration and optimization of an Enterprise virtual environment using VMware technologies and related tools including vSphere / vCenter; vSAN; vROps; Horizon 7; NSX; vRealize; vApp
  • Sequencing applications and administering VDI pools with VMware VDI View; Horizon v7; clones & templates
  • Scripting, automation, and orchestration with tools such as Powershell, Ansible, Python, vRealize Orchestrator
  • Using VM features for HA, including DRS, SRM, and vMotion
  • Developing VMware vCenter and vROps reports for performance, troubleshooting and capacity planning
  • Provisioning and cloning virtual machines and server appliances as needed
  • Maintaining and restoring virtual machine “backups“ and snapshots.
  • Performing upgrades and applying patches or firmware updates to the virtual infrastructure software or hardware
  • Completing service requests or incidents tickets in support of the virtual infrastructure
  • Providing support for server hardware failures and assisting with hardware replacement
  • Providing configuration management and security compliance for the virtual infrastructure
  • Working in a self-organizing team environment where you determine your tasks in coordination with your team
  • Participating in the on-call support rotation, responding to support calls both during and after business hours/weekends/holidays/shutdowns

What you will need to be successful

  • 2+ years of relevant, hands-on work experience administering a virtualized environment (VMware) with at least 400 servers
  • Completion of significant college level course work in a technology field; Associate degree or higher preferred
  • Any cloud certifications are desirable
  • Functional knowledge of Windows server 2012-19, Microsoft MCSE (Server Infrastructure) certification is an advantage
  • Excellent knowledge of VMWare vCenter (6.7), certification is an advantage
  • Experience using enterprise management and monitoring tools; VMware vCenter Configuration Manager, vROPS, vRealize and Solar Winds Orion
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft and VMWare solution stacks in on-prem, cloud, and hybrid environments
  • Proven communication and problem-solving skills on issues related to the configuration, monitoring and operation of mission-critical, virtualized systems
  • Ability to foster a team environment through transparency and collaboration
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with application owners and IT teams
  • Ability to work with minimal to no supervision while providing proactive updates to the leadership team
  • Demonstrated ability to context switch while still delivering on commitments
