Student Nurse Intern

The Summer Intern Program provides an opportunity for nursing students to advance their knowledge and skills in providing patient care. Reports to facility Nursing Leader. Partnered with an RN who develops and supervises the Student Nurse Intern's experience while retaining full accountability and responsibility for the care of assigned patients. Performs basic nursing skills appropriate for the age and/or development of the patients served. In addition to performing normal duties of a Nursing Assistant, must demonstrate competency in technical nursing skills generally learned/acquired before beginning the last year of a nursing program; job duties will expand as skills are learned and competencies are documented by RN partner. The following are general characteristics of this job, although duties may vary by the shift, unit, or facility assigned.



Must be currently enrolled in and in good standing in a nursing program.

Must have a GPA of at least 3.0.

Employee must have completed one clinical rotation and is within one year of completion of their nursing program.

Ability to turn PC hardware on/off and work with a mouse; familiar with basic elements of a Windows environment and keyboarding; perform basic computer tasks with instruction; comfortable with learning new applications.

Current BLS for Healthcare Provider card.

Work requires the interpersonal skills necessary to comfort patients, family members and/or significant others; and to communicate effectively with other patient care providers.

Work requires analytical ability necessary to prioritize work load.
