Emergency Department Technician

Overview

Under the supervision of the charge nurse and/or physician, administers care for patients of all age groups, with both acute and chronic health problems. The Emergency Department Technician provides direct patient care that encompasses the nursing assistant role, unit secretary role, phlebotomy and 12-lead ECG tracings.

Education

* High School Diploma /GED Preferred

Work Experience

* 1-3 years of experience in/with EMT or CNA Preferred.

License and Certification

* CPR

* Additional Information: Completion of an approved training course for Emergency Medical Technician, Medical Office Assistant, Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), or successful completion of first semester of nursing theory. Minimum of one year of acute care or hospital experience. Completion of Phlebotomy competency validation within 6 months.
