Overview

A Critical Care Registered Nurse serves as an expert in evaluating patients, administering care, recognizing complications and coordinating with other members of the critical care team. Critical care registered nurses use effective interpersonal communication in collaborating with fellow members of the critical care team. He/she uses advanced skills to care for patients who are critically ill and at high risk for life-threatening health problems. This role is responsible for responding to life-saving situations, using nursing standards and protocols for treatment, acting as patient advocate, and providing education and support to patient families. The Critical Care Registered Nurse works with increasing independence to set criteria for the quality of patient care, assess patients' needs and cares for patients using specialized knowledge and skills and evaluates the outcomes and interventions This individual also directs and guides patient care activities of ancillary personnel and other patient care personnel while maintaining standards of professional nursing practice.

The person in this position works under general supervision, is responsible for various shifts, may be subject to over 40 hours per week and/or callback as required, and may also be required to remain on campus immediately before, during, and after severe weather and/or disasters.

Qualifications

* Must have ASN degree or Nursing Diploma

* Current RN license in the State of Florida

* BLS through American Heart Association

* ACLS through American Heart Association within 90 days of employment/transfer

* NIH within 90 days of hire/transfer.

* Demonstrated clinical competence and regulatory agency education classes in relevant area of nursing practice

* Demonstrated proficiency in acute care nursing, knowledge, and skills
