Chemical Dependency Counselor

Performs the general duties required to function as a full-time Chemical Dependency Counselor for assigned patients throughout treatment on the CD Unit. Conducts individual and group counseling sessions as it relates to the treatment and recovery of the chemically dependent patient and his/her family/significant others. Collaborates with the patient to develop, implement and monitor treatment plan for recovery. Assists with movement through the continuum of care. Accepts responsibility for specific projects and duties as assigned and acts in a lead position in the absence of the CD Supervisor. Experience/Training: A minimum of 3 years experience in chemical dependency/ addictive disease field. Education: Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Social Service, Health Care or related field preferred. Licenses/Certifications: Current active unrestricted RN license issued by State of California. MAB (Management of Assaultive Behavior ) required. MAB must be taken during the new hire orientation process and prior to providing patient care. Must be renewed annually. Current Alcohol and Drug Certification: (one of the following or the equivalent type of certification) CAADAC, CAS, CAARR, CCBCDC, CAADE, RADT 1. Skills: Understanding of working chemical dependency and psychiatric symptoms and diagnosis.
