JOB OVERVIEW
The Decision Support Analyst applies skills and experience as a seasoned healthcare decision support analyst to projects at all levels of complexity. Uses skills as a seasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding of industry practices and organizational policies and procedures; resolves a wide range of issues in imaginative as well as practical ways. Works on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors. Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Contacts are both internal and external to the department.

ORTHOPAEDIC SURGERY
The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery is responsible for the department's academic, teaching, patient care professional services and research activities under the UCSF School of Medicine (SOM). The department has over 250 academic and staff personnel at multiple sites (University of California - UC, Mt. Zion, Mission Bay - MB, San Francisco General Hospital - SFGH, and Veterans Affairs Medical Center - VAMC).

Required Qualifications

• BA/BS degree with a major in Business Administration, Finance or Economics and three+ years of experience of administrative analysis or operations research; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Epic Clarity or Epic Cogitio Report Writing certification
• Thorough understanding of decision support systems, with knowledge of business statistics, quantitative methods, relational databases, business development scorecards, data modeling, and performance and profitability analysis
• Thorough knowledge of issues in clinical finance, planning, financial data management, and business development. Skills to effectively utilize the tools to produce meaningful findings and actionable intelligence
• Strong problem-solving skills and analytical ability, and strong knowledge of documentation and reporting, with the ability to run queries, complex studies, and forecasts
• Excel; Advanced with complex functions, pivot tables, and v-look up
• Qlikview Dashboard development experience. Training in Qlikview Design and Development
• Knowledge of professional billing practice and rules
• Strong financial and analytical experience
• Strong written and verbal communications skills, with the ability to interpret and convey complex technical and financial information in a clear, concise manner, and to make cogent presentations of analyses, reports, and investigation results
• Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively on complex projects in a team environment with interdepartmental personnel at a variety of professional and technical levels
• Detail oriented, with strong ability to effectively manage time. Skills to effectively address complex, urgent issues as they arise

Preferred Qualifications

• Proven ability to work with senior staff and managers across departments, serving as a technical resource in decision support, and providing recommendations and advice on decision support processes, business and financial issues, and industry trends and advances
• SQL Coding experience highly preferred
• Familiar with UCSF Financial systems, policies and procedures; HIPPA
• Cognos 8.4 Powerplay and Query Studio
• Knowledge of PeopleSoft Financials

License/Certification

• Epic Clarity or Epic Cogitio Report Writing certification
