HR Director - EMEA

Algolia is looking for an experienced, strategic Human Resources Director/Senior Director at our EMEA headquarters in Paris, France. This person will proactively assess our organizational needs and implement solutions in a thoughtful way within a fast-paced environment, demonstrating an understanding of the business and being a thought leader on people and organizational topics.  The ideal candidate is a dynamic, engaging HR leader who possesses high personal and professional standards, and remains calm under pressure.  This candidate must have successfully worked in a global, multicultural organization.  


  • Design the people strategy and own the execution for a dedicated client group
  • Provide a vision for EMEA HR operations and oversee execution of operational matters, including EMEA employment practices
  • Provide expertise and own the global program(s) in a couple of the following areas, based on experience & ambition: organizational effectiveness, organizational strategy, leadership effectiveness, performance management, data analysis, compensation and rewards, learning and development, reward & recognition programs
  • Develop and maintain strong, collaborative internal communication channels between our EMEA offices, U.S. headquarters, and other regional offices
  • Solve problems, get to the root cause of issues, and design and quickly implement solutions
  • Partner closely with EMEA business leaders to interpret and forecast people needs
  • Manage a small HR team and provide high-quality career development to each person
  • Ability to develop and mentor people, inspire teams, and affect greatness in others
  • Excellent cross-functional collaboration and influencing skills.
  • Ability to manage stakeholders and advocate change through influence 
  • Manage and supervise negotiations with the French CSE


  • Degree level education in human resources or a related field
  • 8 + years experience in human resources management with a large, multinational company, which 2+ year of supervising or leading an HR team
  • Highly business and results-oriented with an ability to work collaboratively yet also be comfortable challenging business leaders
  • Proven record of developing and executing programs that maintain high employee engagement
  • Experience with human resources practices and policies in EMEA broadly
  • Heavy expertise in French employment practices and regulatory requirements, including all things related to managing the CSE
  • Ability to maintain a strict code of confidentiality and use of discretion
  • Fluent in English and French
  • Ability to travel once per quarter


  • Master’s degree in human resources or related field
  • Fluent in additional European languages 
  • Experience in Series C and later-stage growing, private tech companies
