Job Description

Reporting to the SVP, Business Segment Finance and Global FP&A, but partnering with the President of Varian's new Software business segment, the Software Finance Business Partner will drive the following functions.

* Own finance business partner functions supporting the Software business. Developing and monitoring the Software P&L for both short and long-range scenarios.

* Engage and influence Software investments, go-to-market strategy and design, pricing strategy, productivity drivers, headcount and commissions design.

* Liaise between Corporate Planning and the business to drive the best process and planning outcomes

* Work with the business and finance teams to drive transformation across all aspects - people, process and technology

General description:

Develops, interprets and implements financial concepts for financial planning and control. Performs technical analysis to determine present and future financial performance. Gathers, analyzes, prepares and summarizes recommendations for financial plans, acquisition activity, trended future requirements and operating forecasts. Performs economic research and studies in the areas of rates of return, depreciations, working capital requirements, investment opportunities, investment performance and impact of governmental requirements.

* Ability to work directly with and around senior company leadership

* Strong financial planning experience required (global experience preferred).

* The job requires complex judgments, in depth analysis, interpretative thinking and the ability to independently develop innovative solutions.

* Analytical and problem solving orientation. Very comfortable with numbers and constructing frameworks and models to analyze data. Fluent in desktop applications such as Microsoft Office.

* Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to excel in a matrix environment. Build strong and productive business partner relationships. Influence leaders and stakeholders throughout the organization.

* Strong written and verbal communication skills required. Strong presentation skills required

Minimum Required Skills and Knowledge:

* Proficient in utilizing business tools such as: E-mail, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

* Experience with SAP or equivalent ERP product and productivity software desired.

Typical Education and Experience:

* Bachelors Degree or equivalent with some Post-Graduate work (or equivalent experience).

* 7-12 years of related experience.
