PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

The Sr. Software Platform Analyst, researches, implements and supports complex technologies and practices (e.g. Java EE, SOA, ECM, BPM, WCM, Mobile, BI, ETL) that have significant value (innovation, efficiency, competitive advantage) for the business. The associate then works with other Global Business Solutions & Technology (GBS & T) teams to provide project-level development support, knowledge transfer, and the integration of new technologies into the TRP technical architecture and process framework. The associate acts independently or as a member of a project team responsible for providing technical and business process guidance concerning the business implications of the application of various systems. Provides technical consulting on complex projects. The associate mentors or leads in the development of architectures and execution of strategies for major projects. This would also include reviewing other applications and enhancements to ensure that they follow the overall system design.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

* Demonstrates technical competency in specific tools and technologies as determined by the strategic direction of GBS&T. Using these tools to demonstrate their potential value, the incumbent develops and implements solutions, which includes installing, configuring, coding, testing, and deploying complex technical solutions.

* Works with project teams in a consulting role or as a team member to assist with the adoption of new technologies. Provides assistance and guidance with configuration, coding, or design techniques. Mentors Programmer Analysts, and Sr. Programming Analysts regarding technology, programming standards, and assists them in the resolution of complex technical issues. Trains other Analysts/GBS&T personnel on a particular business technology.

* Provides thought leadership and stays current on new technology relevant to T. Rowe Price's strategic directions. Prepares presentations, whitepapers, proposals, and sample applications that demonstrate how new technologies can be leveraged by the firm.

* Conducts technical research on technology trends and advances that have the potential to be applied to the business of T. Rowe Price. Applies this research to the creation of recommendations, prototypes, and solutions in support of business and technical goals and objectives. Produces white papers, proof of concepts, and demonstrations that show the value of technology for the business. Works with Project Leader and Project Manager to lead the planning of implementation and enhancement efforts. Assists in the development of staffing requirements and resource needs for technology efforts and recommends skill sets that should be represented based on the nature and scope of the project.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

* 4+ years of systems design, programming, implementation and integration experience including 2+ years advancing major design initiatives

* Significant experience in multiple advanced technologies or solutions in a distributed environment

* Expert skills in advanced technologies and solutions relevant to the business channel(s) being supported:

* Cloud & SaaS Platforms: AWS, AZURE, PaaS (Adobe Experience Manager), SaaS (ServiceNow, Workday)

* Content Management: Adobe Experience Manager, Alfresco CM, IBM WCM, Inter Woven CM, IBM ECM

* Search: Vivisimo, Lucene, SOLR

* Application Servers: WebSphere Application Servers, WebSphere Portal Servers, Domino Server, WebLogic

* Web Servers: Apache, Tomcat, IBM HTTP Server, IIS, OWS, Java Web Server, Interwoven, SP

* Major systems development and implementation experience.

* Ability to turn requirements into code

* Experience integrating new applications into an existing environment

* Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills

* Experience with a structured life cycle methodology, familiarity with distributed computer systems, and Windows office products

* Ability to effectively work independently and in small teams

* Adaptable and able to learn quickly

* Attention to detail

* Strong interpersonal skills. Must be able to effectively work with people in the team, other IT departments and/or outside of the enterprise

* Off-hour implementations may be required

Preferred

* Experience with Java/J2EE

* Basic database administration experience

* Soc. Collab. Tools: Confluence, Scuttle, Wordpress, Jira, Jive Forums

* Legacy Dev Stack: Java, C/C++, PL/SQL, ABAP, VB

* Operating Systems: Various flavors of UNIX, Linux and Windows

* Databases: Oracle, DB2, SQL Server, My SQL

* IDEs: RAD, WSAD 4.x/5.x, JBuilder, Eclipse

* Enterprise Systems: J2EE and LDAP Programming, Restful and Web Services
