Description of Work

Under supervision, this position is responsible for processing requests for fare passes, delivering passes, receiving and sorting currency, maintaining equipment, and entering data.

Duties and Responsibilities

Responds to fare media inquiries received via the Internet, mail, telephone, and internal requests.

Processes requests for transportation passes; orders passes; ensures delivery of passes.

Issues fare passes to visitors; receives payment for passes.

Sorts and counts coin and currency received for deposit in the vault, both manually and through the use of coin and currency counting machines; examines money to detect and remove counterfeit, mutilated, and worn coins and bills; prepares all monies for deposit and armored transportation. Collects and prepares money at second location for transportation to main facility.

Delivers consignment orders to regional businesses.

Enters fare pass data in databases; enters returns; maintains data; prepares reports.

Maintains equipment within area of responsibility, such as jetscanner and jetsorter.

Assists with verification of fare media sales cash receipts received form internal sales.

Assists in the preparation of consignment outlets fare media shipping receipts.

Performs various clerical accounting duties within fare revenue collections as required.

Assists in securing all fare media and cash receipts.

Performs cash collection duties at required special events.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Working knowledge of the care and operation of standard office equipment.

Some knowledge of basic accounting principles.

Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations such as addition and subtraction to make change.

Ability to use a 10-key adding machine.

Ability to handle multiple assignments in order to achieve timely and accurate results.

Ability to interpret and apply policy, procedures and regulations.

Ability to copy, transcribe, enter, or post data or information.

Ability to work in confined area.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of staff, the public, coworkers and those doing business with LYNX.

Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds.

Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver’s License and have a clean driving record.

Employees must be able to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.

Physical Requirements

The functions of this position require light to medium work involving standing or walking most of the time, exerting up to 20 – 50 pounds of force on a regular basis and considerable skill, adeptness and speed in the use of the fingers, hands or limbs in tasks involving close tolerances. This position requires normal visual acuity and field of vision, hearing, speaking and texture perception.

Minimum Education and Experience

A High School Diploma or GED and one (1) year of experience in the clerical accounting field.
