Position Summary

ITT is hiring an HR Business Partner to provide all aspects of HR service and support to our Control Technologies site in Orchard Park, NY.

Both a strategic and hands-on contributor, the successful candidate will execute all Human Resources activities for our 200+ employee site from everyday management of employee relations, recruitment and onboarding, training and development, compensation administration, compliance and records. The role provides project management and organizational expertise; acts as a strategic partner for management and an agent of change for the business. Participates in special projects for both the local business and broader CCT organization as needed.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Business Partner:
    • Consult with site leaders and provide daily HR guidance
    • Work closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale and increase productivity and retention.
    • Consult, advise, and train managers on sensitive employment issues, progressive discipline up to and including employment terminations and administering disciplinary processes.
    • Assist managers with developing internal talent. Works with management to identify high potential employees and to improve effectiveness, knowledge of all staff.
    • Coaches and counsels’ employees and manages HR policies and procedures.
    • Manage performance review process and system.
    • Work closely with other cross-function and Corporate HR staff on projects.
    • Serve as a partner to attract, grow and retain high-quality talent. Advises managers on workforce planning and recruiting needs, and oversees the hiring process including coordinating job postings, reviewing resumes, interviewing candidates and selecting qualified candidates for further review.
    • Partner with site leaders to manage to budgeted head-count.
    • Conduct exit interviews and use data to improve turnover at local site.
    • Assist managers with developing internal talent. Works with management to identify high potential employees and to improve effectiveness, knowledge of all staff.
    • Work closely with EHS to drive a culture of safety and safe practices throughout; support Safety and Worker's compensation activities.
    • Periodically review and revise local policies with input from HR and managers.
    • Recommend, plan and implement pay actions. Assist in the preparation and administration of bonus plan.
    • Support corporate and division diversity initiatives.
    • Conduct investigations in response to employee complaints as needed.
    • Ensure regulatory compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable human resource federal, state and local laws and regulations, maintaining records, and representing the organization at hearings.
    • Identify training needs, determine cost effective solutions, coordinates, implements and evaluates the effectiveness of the training.
    • Maintain human resources system that includes records on hires, promotions, transfers, and terminations.

Position Requirements

      • Bachelor’s degree in HR or related field preferred, HR certification a plus
      • Minimum 5 years’ experience in progressively responsible HR roles
      • Minimum of 3 years in manufacturing
      • Self-motivated, self-directed, and highly organized.
      • Knowledge of human resources practices
      • Adept with employee investigations
      • Experience with FLSA, state, local and federal employment laws
      • Ability to solve complex problems
      • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential situations
      • Ability to multi-task and handle multiple priorities
      • Proficiency with computer software including Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
      • Proficiency with human resource information systems (HRIS) and Applicant tracking software (ATS).
