Reports to: Medical Technologist Lab Manager

Hours: Full-time hours scheduled between 6:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m., Monday - Friday.

Role Summary:

This individual is responsible for the collection and accurate labeling of specimens while giving exceptional patient care and customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

* Greets and educates the patient on the procedure

* Identifies patient and test, generates and confirms correct labels and affixes on specimen container according to laboratory policies

* Selects veni-puncture equipment appropriate for test order, draws blood specimen, documents and prepares specimen for transport to the lab according to lab process

* Monitors patient's reaction to the procedure and takes appropriate measures to calm anxiety or fear

* Clarifies orders with providers or nursing staff, as necessary

* Documents results on any special procedures performed

* Performs special procedures and completes additional tasks, as assigned

* Responsible for exceptional patient care and customer service

* Other duties as assigned

Skill, Knowledge, and Experience:

* High School diploma or equivalent

* 1+ years of experience as a Phlebotomist, clinical setting preferred

* Successful completion of Phlebotomist training with subsequent certification as a Phlebotomist

* Current CPR card

* Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of clinical laboratory principles and procedures and is able to perform each test as required

* Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of Quality Control principles and procedures and ability to apply such knowledge to maintain high standards of quality

* Requires ability to read and write

* Ability to follow oral and written instructions

* Regular and punctual attendance is essential when scheduled
