Position Summary:Accountable for all registration functions within the hospital - pre-admissions, in-patient, observation, out-patient, and emergency patient types. Responsible for accurate data entry and compliance with hospital policy and procedures as related to each patient type. Responsibilities include accurate and timely discharges and transfers. Responsible for correct ADT information in the Order Entry system. Accountable for occurrence, insurance and identification of patients and the completion of required insurance forms, specifically Medicare and Medicaid. Billing documents will be produced at the registration station for outpatient and emergency room patients. Co-payments, patient portions and self-pay accounts will be collected at the point of service. In the registration area located next to ER, the representatives on duty are responsible for responding to alarms. Assists as needed in the QA process. Manage workload and perform in a service excellence manner to best represent the facility and department. This position also performs other duties as assigned and as deemed necessary by the department director in order to achieve success of the department and facility.Position Qualifications:1. Meets all active working position requirements in regards to accuracy, timeliness, and completeness of work performed. Fully competent in PBX operations, handles payments and upfront collections as required, and assists as requested in the QA process. Enters accurate and timely orders for designated patient exams. Responds to requests from other department that directly affect patient care in an accurate and timely manner.2. Achieves and maintains active knowledge of the PTAC.001 Meditech Admissions policy in order to achieve and maintain registration accuracy of 95% or better.3. Maintains 100% accuracy in cash drawer and receipts.4. Manages workload and performs in a service excellence manner to best represent the facility and department. Promotes service excellence in all responsibilities.5. Ensures station and machines are fully stocked at the end of each shift. 6. Covers switchboard duties during the evening/weekend and break hours and meets all standards of the PBX Operator position description.7. Knowledgeable of patient rights and position specific advance directives. Considers patients/families language, cultural, and religious beliefs when providing service. Performs well in stress and emergency situations.8. Exhibits willingness to master new skills. Consults supervisor for additional assignments or independently assumes responsibility for unassigned tasks when needed.
