Position Summary: Verify all patient eligibility and benefits; notify case management of any patient requiring clinical, work with physician offices in a service excellence manner in order to best serve our patients and physicians. Complete all necessary forms, identify patient financial responsibility, and work with other departments in order to process timely and accurate insurance information. Obtain all referral and authorization numbers as required. Work scheduled accounts out five days and IP accounts next business day in order to reduce risk of denial and allow time for adequate communication to patients regarding financial responsibility. This position also performs other duties as assigned and as deemed necessary by the department director in order to achieve success of the department and facility.Position Qualifications:1. Ability to meet minimum hospital hiring standards.2. High school or GED3. 1-3 years related experience preferredEssential Job Functions:*1. Meets all active working position requirements in regards to accuracy, timeliness, and completeness of work performed. Accurately documents patient financial responsibility. Responds to requests from other departments that directly affect patient care in an accurate and timely manner. 2. Achieves and maintains benefits and authorizations of scheduled accounts completed five days out and inpatient accounts next business day.3. Achieves and maintains 95% accuracy or above in benefit assignment.4. Achieves and maintains 95% accuracy or better in denial rate.5. Works closely and effectively with all departments and physician offices to facilitate authorization of patient procedures to reduce the risk of denial. Appropriately works add on accounts to reduce risk of denial.6. Manages workload and performs in a service excellence manner to best represent the facility and department. Promotes service excellence in all responsibilities.7. Knowledgeable of patient rights and position specific advance directives. Considers patients/families language, cultural, and religious beliefs when providing service. Performs well in stress and emergency situations.8. Exhibits willingness to master new skills. Consults supervisor for additional assignments or independently assumes responsibility for unassigned tasks when needed.
