Front Desk Clerk

The Front Desk Clerk greets and registers guests, provides prompt and courteous service, and closes out guest accounts upon completion of stay.


1. Check guest in and out of room.

2. Able to provide accurate and appropriate information to guests and customers.

3. Input and retrieve information routinely from computer systems with electronic and numerical codes. Make appropriate selection of rooms based on guests needs.

4. Responds to guest requests and handle guest issues or reports complaints to management.

5. Remain calm and alert, especially during emergency and/or heavy hotel activity.

6. Promptly answering telephone in professional and clear manner. Input all information into computers to communicate guest requests and complaints.

7. Effectively deal with internal and external customers, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact, and diplomacy to defuse anger, collect accurate information and resolve conflicts.

8. Answer guest questions regarding area or hotel, outlet information and services.

9. Greet and welcome guest as they arrive to the hotel.

10. Perform other duties as assigned.


1. Ability to stand and move throughout the front office and continuously perform essential job functions.

2. Ability to read, listen, and communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.

3. Ability to access and accurately input information using a moderately complex computer system.

4. Hearing and visual ability to observe and detect signs of emergency situations.

5. High school diploma or equivalent required.
