BASIC ACCOUNTABILITY

Working in the E&P Strategic Services Reservoir Technology and Optimization (RTO) Group, this position is part of a multi-disciplinary Center of Excellence (CoE) team responsible for monitoring and extending the health of various technical disciplines across all business units (onshore North America). This position involves improving completions discipline delivery across the enterprise (e.g., best practices, etc.), staff development (e.g., mentoring, training, advising on recruiting and staff development, etc.), and external engagement (e.g., supervising consortia, monitoring peer practices, recommending software applications, etc.). As an individual contributor and CoE team member, this individual must work with a minimum of supervision, work and interact well with others in a variety of settings, exercise influencing skills and be able to manage diverse opinions in a positive and constructive manner.

EDUCATION

Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering plus a minimum of 15 years industry experience.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

* Be the identifiable thought leader of the discipline within Devon

* Develop/maintain best practices

* Act as discipline advisor/contributor on special projects and initiatives

* Participate in assist/assurance activities

* Manage discipline SME roster and coordinate SME activities

* Provide regular reporting on health of discipline within Devon

* Engage with management on setting vision and actions for improved performance

* Monitor petro-professionals across Devon and make personnel recommendations to TRT as requested for most efficient and effective delivery of discipline expertise (including rotation assignments and promotion opportunities)

* Advise TRT as requested in the recruitment of new staff with a view to ensure improvement in overall discipline health and sub-discipline competencies, including internships; participate in new candidate interviewing

* Provide technical mentorship to younger staff; promote mentor/mentee relationships

* Identify/develop (and in some cases deliver) technical training

* Promote cross-discipline workflows

* Actively promote knowledge sharing across the enterprise

* Monitor industry state-of-the-art and introduce/deploy to Devon as appropriate

* Maintain external relationships with peer companies and academia

* Represent Devon externally as discipline expert; participate in professional society conferences

* Present/publish selectively

* Propose/coordinate consortia memberships

* Propose/direct (external) technology development activities

* Maintain knowledge of relevant software platforms, and provide recommendations (application selection, upgrades and improvements).

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

* Well rounded completions and fracture stimulation engineering skills and experience.

* Extensive experience with unconventional/resource plays in the U.S., preferably Delaware and Anadarko basins, with a track record of influencing and improving completion/stimulation practices.

* Deep understanding of current engineering methods and pros/cons for completions/stimulation design.

* Understanding of how completions/stimulation interact with drilling, geoscience and reservoir considerations.

* Good communication, listening, interpersonal and influencing skills.

* Good problem solving skills.

* Good team player.

* Requires ability to travel.
