Accounting Analyst - Projects

Opportunity to operate outside the traditional accounting role and influence change initiatives within the organization through the vehicle of accounting. May function as a work leader with other accounting departments or throughout the organization. The ideal candidate has the ability to build positive relationships while demonstrating proficiency in accounting analysis and project management. Accounting professional performs accounting analysis and furthers project management initiatives. Prepares, with moderate guidance, accounting memoranda analyzing the impact for new or existing contracts/agreements. Performs tasks as requested for SEC related initiatives and/or company-wide accounting implementation projects, such as lease standard implementation. Analyzes and identifies potential opportunities for process efficiencies and technology advances. Develops solutions to problems of moderate scope and complexity. Communicates effectively and effortlessly.


Essential Functions:

* Prepares technical accounting memoranda and reviews contracts for accounting implications, quarterly and as needed

* Facilitates and where directed by supervisor, leads, initiatives on company-wide implementation of new accounting standards

* Monitors adherence to accounting policies/regulations, internal controls and GAAP and provides analysis of the impact and/or applicability of new accounting standards on the Company

* Reviews, analyzes and ensures transactions comply with regulatory requirements

* Gathers information and prepares reports for management

* Conducts research to develop solutions to existing or potential problems

* Provides analysis and support for special projects, including software implementation/database reporting

* Performs detailed review of XBRL tagging for all 10-Q/10-K reports in compliance with the Taxonomy

* Prepares monthly/quarterly financial reports, including financial statements, forecasts, variance analysis, as requested


Education and Work Experience:

* 3-6 years accounting experience required

* Oil and gas industry experience preferred

* Bachelor's degree in accounting or another degree preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

* Strong knowledge of accounting principles and SEC guidance to analyze business transactions for proper accounting treatment

* Analytical and problem-solving skills to investigate financial information, address complex issues and prepare reports

* Attention to detail to ensure accurate financial reporting and other responsibilities of position

* Ability to plan, prioritize work, multi-task, and demonstrate initiative to meet quarterly deadlines

* High personal credibility and ethical standards to ensure reporting follows internal controls/regulations and professional standards

* Interpersonal and teamwork skills to work in a team environment and across departments

* Communication skills (verbal and written) with all levels of personnel

* Computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office & database reporting

Work Environment

* Environmentally controlled with no exposure to extreme changes in the weather, and limited exposure to humidity/moisture relative to atmospheric condition variations

* Work generally performed in an office environment

* Travel may be required for assignments, meetings and training

* Overtime, Weekend and/or Holiday hours may be required
